I was thinking about putting 6" or bigger stacks on my 2005 3500. Just wondering about the incab drone? I currently have a 4" st pipe with 5" turndown tip as far back as you can and going down the road at 70 you cant hear your self think. Its terrible. Would stacks be worse?

My 6" miters strate piped are pretty anoying on the interstate especialy when towing but i dont do allot if interstate driving so i love it otherwise

I pull a trailer every day going to jobs. I got to do something different because the st pipe sound isnt working. In my 99 2nd gen cummins it sounds great and theres no incab drone at all.

That is the reason why I have held off on putting stacks on my truck, I don't want to have a lot of highway droning noise. They look great, but when you tow for a few hours in a row, I would probably be thinking differently.

I lasted 1 day with mine straight piped. Went right to the exhaust shop my buddy runs and had him weld in a 24" long 5"in 5" out resonator. Good on the freeway, good in town. no killer drone. now going with 8" miters this summer!

Well I have 6" miters and I tow alot for my company and they have not bothered me that much. I had mine mounted about 6 to 8" above the top of my cab that way you don't get as much drone from the exhaust. Can't get into alot of parking garages but I don't like going into the city anyway. LOL

IMO my underside exhaust was louder than the stacks for cab noise but it's been along time since my truck has seen a cat or muffler!

8" Miters are HUGE!!! Gonna have to see some pix of those when you get them on. What brand are going with?

If you don't like your straight pipe now, stacks will be MUCH worse. I put some stack mufflers in mine, and it really cut down the drone. They didn't look too restrictive either.

I dealt with my loud pipes for 1 1/2 yrs before finally putting a muffler on it. I put a Flo-Pro twister muffler on it and now has a nice, deep smooth sound to it. You still know the stacks are behind you, but it sounds awesome!

My 7" stack is quiter than my 5" exhaust??? Makes no sense at all but who knows... Unfortunately I need the bed space and I hate having a soot covered truck... so it's back to a custom exhaust that is in the works!!!
