I would also recommend the complete valve body versus just the rebuild kit and relying on some local to do the rebuild, unless you have someone you trust. I think it would be worth the piece of mind knowing it was done right.

You are right about the Valve Body. I am a firm believer in having one throat to choke. If I go with the preassembled Valve Body, and it fails, I only have to make one call. The tranny is a major concern for me. I burned up two in my former truck (Chevy K1500). The 48RE feels just a little sluggish to me, and I want to make this as bulletproof as possible. By getting a stronger Torque Converter, I think I will gain a bit of performance right there.
I probably won't ever run the TST full out, but you never know. If I get to stacking a fueling chip on top of the TST, I may need to spend $1600 on the turbo, but that will be at least a year off. That would bring up a whole other round of spending.
