Move up here, we dont use salt on the roads here,, too cold, salt loses its ability to melt at -20 c. We have a special compound here works great, no more rusted out vehicles, the only ones rusted out here have come from the maritimes.

I like your new tires. Never heard of them before but they look awesome.

I am very jealous of your weather........I want some "REAL" snow, bad!!!
What's this about the cruise control high idle? You can rev the motor and set the cruise at that rev? How did you come about that? Please shed some light on me

memories

Man, thanks for the memories!! Looks like the Joliet area from the photos; Shorewood, Plainfield, Channahon, Elwood........

I have started at -5 unplugged, with no problem. Just use about 1/3 pedal. I have started and driven in -15 with fuel treated. This was plugged-in. The motor does make some funny sounds at these temps.

Just go to the local pressure wash and remove that salt when you can. I'm dealing with the aftermath of a yankee truck now. It's not pretty what salt can do.

Nice truck.

All of the automatic transmission equipped 04.5 on up trucks (and maybe before) have this feature available. It just has to be enabled by the dealer with a scan tool.

Basically, while your truck is idling and in park or neutral, you turn on the cruise control and hit set. It will automatically go from 725 (or so) rpms up to 1100. Then you can adjust it up to 1500 rpms with the accel button or down with decel button.

It is a very nice feature because our trucks don't produce much heat at 725 rpms.

It is not available with the 6 speed trucks but somebody figured out how to get around it to work on those too. Sorry im not sure who it was, but there was a thread a while back about it.

Viking, It should give a "weight" rating too.

The original OEM BFG Rugged trails are "E" Rated and have a 3195lb weight rating. I have "D" rated BFG AT KO's on my truck now, and they have the same 3195lb rating.

I know there are some "E" rated tires that go up to like 3400 or maybe 3700lbs.

Here in Northeast, PA ( ) they spray the roads with salt brine if they even think it might snow. Then they dump rock salt like it's free after the snow starts falling. I will have to get a few photos this year of the 3-4 " high piles of salt at intersections where the salt truck stops but the salt flow doesn't. A month or two into the season, all you have to do is go to the store and your truck will be as salty white as the roads not matter what color the paint is/was. Then after a few years, you get a free two tone paint jobe. But the lower accent color is always the same and it has texture. It is disgusting.
I second, third, and fourth that one!
