Plumb in a pressure gage between the pump and the check valve (or solenoid if you have one) and you can tell when you are pumping. If it is air locked you will only make maybe 5 or 10 psi, if it is working you should make upward to 150 to 200 psi.

These pumps use double check valves to operate and a peice of debris as small as a hair will prevent it from pumping air but will not be too affected when moving water.

Used about half a tank of water in a 15 minute ride, and I could tell it was spraying.

 

When you call snow you might want to check into a 220psi pump upgrade.

It's not your issue, you should be draining the tank, but at 50psi plus boost the 150psi pump won't overcome it so it won't spray and it sounds like you can go there. They have been talking about a new pump that will but the old ones didn't.

you got the stage 3?

It might be the controller acting up. if so you could wire in a switch and test it manually, just don't bring it on to early.

Of course the best thing is to talk to them.

All I need is 12v to get the water. I could wire up a manual switch no prob, but that would be crap, considering that I paid, what, 600 bucks for it?

I do want a bigger pump. I'll find out about that, but I'm not planning on spending any money anytime soon.

 

Actually the bold statement is wrong. As long as you have 1 psi more pressure from the water pump then you have for boost you will flow. The issue is you will have poor atomization when you have low differential. Even at 50 psi boost a 150 psi pump will do fine with 1 nozzle. Start going with multiple nozzles and your flow will be high enough that the pump may not make the full 150 psi and then your atomization starts get poor.

The snow stage 3 uses 3 nozzles, but you are only using 2, Mad?

Ok, mine is about 1 1/2 years old and has 3 nozzles.
Now I'm not learned enough to give you a formula on how it should work but I can say this: up to about the power it takes to give me 35-40 lbs of boost, the system works great and I can see considerable egt reduction. I can play with the settings or just turn it on and off to watch the effects. Now above that level I can see the effect and performance really drop off and at higher boost/hp levels it is pretty much ineffectual. Now I believe that Schied has some sort of table, (THE Mr. John P can talk to this), that references how much water at what pressure is required to achieve x amount of egt cooling. I know I am not there yet!

 

Yeah, I know that there are bigger pumps out there, I just don't want to drop the coin on them.
