Evenin, DTR... please watch the vid... I put a little madhat in there for ya...




What I mean is... I left the switch on most of the day today, the monitor says I hit 100% boost, but when I check the reservoir, there is very little water gone. When it's working right, it'll suck down 2 quarts in a little over a 1/4 mile. Am I pushing too much boost for the pump to overcome? I can hit 50 any day of the week. Anywhere between 40 and 45 on DD... ?

on the bottom of the snow pumps, in the center there is a tiny opening, this is actually where the adjustment is.... find an allen key, that fits, and give er 3 turns clockwise, this will boost the output of the pump to help overcome your 50 psi of boost.


edit: in the followoing img the spot where the adjustment is located top dead center of the image...... that little tip sticking up has the adjustment in it.

Mike... I have removed the adjustment, and I am now running more volume than when the adjustment was there. (talked to snow about that one...) Some how or another, some retard cranked on it and broke the plastic housing... a little epoxy and a grinder, and I was in there.

It usually cleans me right up.

You can air lock the pump very easily. If you run the pump dry they have a hard time making pressure with air in the system to over come the system back pressure.

On my Cooling mist system I have to make sure the supply line from the tank to the pump is primed after running the tank dry. If not then it will not pump anything. Once primed it will easily move the water.

Another way to fix this is to install a solenoid valve on the pump discharge that can dump the pump discharge to the ground. Then when you refill the tank you can open the solenoid for 15 seconds the first time the pump starts up to allow the pump to prime itself without any discharge back pressure. I plan on doing this in the spring when I reinstall my water system since I only use it for towing my trailer I do not need it in the winter.

 

with ya on that camper, I made sure I installed the pump below the level of the tank, so it is gravity fed, no chance on air locking.

I have push lock fittings, so it is really easy to prime. I will keep that in mind, tho.

Mike, my tank is in my tool box, mounted as high as I can be with the lid shut, and the pump is on the frame rail behind the bumper.

I'm not too sure about that... would my truck get a DUI?

well, that sounds like ya got it right, and from the vid the nozzles spray fine, might not have the flow that the ole kegerator does, but hey, ya got the important one going good !

Mad, I don't really know how your Snow system works. I run a Devil'sown system. Is yours progressive as in it sprays more at higher boost than lower? Also when do you start spraying? I've got mine set to start at 15psi and max at 35psi so if I'm just cruising around I might use some water but it's VERY rare that I'm at or above 35psi for longer periods of time (as in racing). What I'm trying to get at is maybe your system is doing what it's supposed to do...? Also I have a little LED readout that shows when pump starts and also when it's at max pumping. Does Snow show that somehow?

 

It can either be boost controled or EGT controlled. I keep it on boost, because I usually hit above 20 for a couple of solid stretches on the way home. If I mash on it a little, I can hit 45-ish.

It comes on 25% at 10, 50% at 15, and 100% at 25 psi, I think.

It has preformed better than this, I've had it for a while. If I am playing, I can empty that 2 qt tank in 15 minutes driving around.

I have always been concerned that I am making too much boost for that pump to handle.

I'm gonna call snow and have them look at this thread. They have pretty good customer service. Before I do that, I'm gonna go drive some more, now that I've verified that it's spraying.

About 2 months ago, the connection on the bottom of the pump took a poo, so I hard wired the power wires together, and it worked great then.

 

Something doesn't sound right... maybe a loose electrical connection again?

 

Maybe it was air locked like stated before. I'll play with it again this evening...
