Smoking Goerend Full Billet Tranny!!!
I went fishing today and this guy with a Tahoe dropped his trailer off the end of the ramp. I unhooked my boat and hooked onto his Tahoe. I eased into the pull in 2wd. My rear tires started to break loose due to wet ramp. I put into 4lo and with tranny in 1st eased into again. The rear tires started to spin again, then smoke.... only then I realized the smoke was coming from tranny (smelled clutch burning)... I stopped, unhooked.. checked the tranny fluid, it was full.
I've left an email with Dave, I'll call him on Monday. Maybe his recommendation to use Dextron III and Lube Guard was bad advice????
Anyone with a built tranny ever have this happen? I thought I would twist off U-joints before slipping this triple disk TC....
Did I screw it up? I guess Dave may be sending me a new TC???
I may be paranoid, but when I was towing my boat home it felt really doggy!

I don't know a lot about auto trannies, but from what I know of Dave, I would think that
1-The tranny is fine and...
2-If there is an issue, Dave will make it right.
In any event, sorry to hear of your troubles

I ended up just wrapping my chain around the trailer, he unhooked, and I pulled out the trailer.... with ease..... wouldn't doubt if the moron was holding his brakes
Talk about customer service.... just got a call from Dave.
He thinks everythings ok..... since my wheels were turning, I wouldn't have been in a stalled state where the fluid would get extremely hot. He said with my Smarty set so high, with the light throttle position (easing him out), there may not have been enough pressure. He said if it's anything, it would be the rear clutch (I have a bolt in roller rocker) and the truck would want to go forward in N and reverse because the clutch would in effect be stuck together.
Next time, I'll yank the front of his frame off by flooring it

Might check and see if throttle cable is actually operating small lever above shift lever on left side of trans. Have seen them disconnect themselves.
