Here's one, you can look in the Aug TOM thread for other pics. Chances are you've already seen them before.

With the LED tails smoked also it gives out a very ditinct look, and I believe a good balance between chrome and black. I had to lose some cosmetic points as i changed tires, they don't look as good as the terra grapplers, but they grip well and perform better all around.

I`ve don`t know if they show up in the pics. in my gallery , but I have the stock ones that I "smoked" myself.

I had the Recons , and they turned yellow ,cracked, and leaked after a little over a year. They were the old non-led ones....not sure how the newer ones hold up.

Hey rip, how long you been running the tail lights?Had any problems with the l.e.d.'s burning out? My friend has the recon light bar and 1/3 of the lites are not working after only 6 months.I just switched from clear to smoked cab lites as well.A little weary of the tail lights. They cost a pretty penny!Does anybody make a smoked lite for the factory strip on the tailgate?

If you know anyone in the paint/body business...take the stock one off , and have them spray it black...to the point of just being covered , then clear it....

That`s what I did to my cab lights , and they look as good , or better than the ones you can buy , and they still light up amber at night.

I`m a painer myself , so this mod was FREE!

Will this trick work on the red plastic lensed lite bar on the tailgate?

I don't have the Recon tails, they're the ebay ones, and they have been doing great for a year now. For the price they have paid for themselves. Only thing was the fit was okay, not perfect, but I won't complain, and I burnt out 1 reverse bulb, but other than that its been flawless. Take a look on ebay, you will be happier with their price.

I do have the recon 3rd brake and it is doing fine, no problems but it has the known habit of the white leds faintly staying on for hours at a time. And it collects more condensation than I'd like.

I don`t see why not....I`m thinking about doing my taillights the same way...with a little less black before I clear them.
