Smarty upgrade question...
when i go to install a program from the mads website onto the smarty, do i HAVE to return the truck to stock before loading the new tune into the smarty? because i forgot to and the tune is loading onto the downloader right now as i type.

No you do not need to go back to stock.
I have changed between several times and had read a thread somewhere explaining the same. I had the same thought when I 1st got mine.

I have never had that come up on mine. Thought that would only come up if the VIN locked in your Smarty is different than the truck you are trying to load the Smarty on..

I would talk to who/where you got it...
Don't think there is anything that can be done except to unlock the VIN from the truck it is lock to.
Is this Smarty already loaded on another truck? If so then you need to unload from that truck before it will work on another one.

Sorry for your trouble... But I do not know any other way to help.
I have done exactly what you say you did several times with mine.
Started on Stock 5, loaded Moderate 7, Wild 9 and am on Mild 9 at the moment. Have not needed to go back to stock and they have all worked Flawless.

oh well i guess ill have to call tomorrow. i loaded the tune it came with, then downloaded the 4.11 from the mads site and tried to put it in the truck, but it said vin locked. if oneone else is reading this that might have a clue to fix it let me know!! thanks anyway JP

So the SMARTY loaded correctly the first time to your truck? And then for the second time it has a VIN lock.
