Smarty at the track. Too much tire spinning

I did 8 passes at the track tonight.....Forgot to air down the duallies ... 80psi best I could get was 60ft 2.2 and 1/4 15.196 with Smarty on 30hp, TST on 3/0 18deg adj. Dropped tires to 60psi and did a 14.95 with a 2.002.

Did another run and got a 60foot 1.95.....ramped the TST in 3rd gear hoping to get enough momentum to not spin on 3/4 .... nope 84mph trap....gave up for the night.

Anything over Smarty 1 and TST 3/1 and I was overfueled and dropped smoke and time.....On Smarty 1 and TST 3/1 pegged the boost to 75....truck sounded great but tires were hot after every run and smelled like I had just done a burn out for 1/4 mile.

Worse thing was getting beat by a very hot s-10 with a small block....3 times. I beat him at the r/t at the 60 foot and he passed me at the 1/8 and finished at 109mph. His best all night was a 13.12.a My fastest trap was 88mph when I decided to leave it in 3rd so I didn't spin on the 3/4 shift.
two weeks ago I had no boost, leaks everywhere, less fueling and trapped at 92 to 94.xx everytime. Gotta invest in LSD for the rears and then I'm gonna rip.

Last time with duallies (smaller balder inners) aired to 40psi...1.89 14.47

I need LSD.....front and rear. I was spinning the rears in 4wd for about 400 feet in first gear and then again on the 2/3 and the 3/4..... I couldn't get the truck to stick at all. The boost was rocketting to 75psi and breaking the tires loose at will at anything above 2700rpm.

Also had new slightly bigger tires on the front so that probably made the rears even worse... I gotta get a new set of tires for the rear or I'm leaning towards 6 drag DOT slicks...anyone got a set of steel stock dually rims around I can pound.

Even with Smarty....turned the RAD on and got .2seconds faster.

Water Meth was working too well...too much meth.....temps got hot even at 75psi.

Without Smarty the shifts were slow and I lost all boost every time on the 3/4 shift ...the TST lull zone of 22 - 2700.

ks.

Sounds like your biggest problem is definately traction. Maybe you should invest in some wide-**** drag slicks for the rear? I've seen a couple duallies running them and they would probably hook up good enough to pop a couple driveshafts

I'd love to pop a couple bolts on the driveshaft because I was hooking up. I need LSD to properly punish the driveline. ks

ABC - Sounds like you're having a good time.

I was only able to make one pass at the track last night with the following results:

60 - 2.1
330 - 6.2
1/8 - 9.56 @74.2
1K - 12.4
1/4 - 14.87 @91.36

This was with the HOT Juice on 5. Did you notice a significantly quicker shift with the Smarty? I think I'm loosing at least a second on the 3-4 shift. At 3,300rpms in 3rd it feels like it's defuelling and it pauses before it shifts to 4th. Once I'm in 4th (just before the end of the 1/4) it takes off again.

The Smarty would be kind of expensive just to firm up the shifts but if it will definitlely quicken all the shifts I might have to pull the trigger.

Are your diffs Dana or AAM?

Should be relatively cheap for parts to add the posi to the Danas if you turn wrenches...

...I did this on my '98

Uh, that's not really that fast, especially for a light vehicle with a decent smallblock. Not knocking you, but he really ought to be doing much better than a 13.12 if it's at all stout.

s10 on had 235 low profiles....not slicks and had painfully slow launches 60 ft 2.37. It was an extended cab so it was heavier than a reg cab....and is a street vehicle. ks
