Smarty Software? Not sure if it's just me

Ok first off not bashing no one, but getting frustrated not being unable to go back software Versions that is. So truck hasn't been to the dealer since I just updated to 5.10 back in 2010 so you guest it dealer did update so couldn't go back to 2.09 (software unknown error)which I feel was the best on my truck. A little smokey at times but great otherwise. Towing awesome. So of lately I've been running latest 5.13.AR21E which is good but while towing SW2 TQ1 TM2/4 I seem to lose throttle it's just quits like it's still stock you know just throttle stops cause its on the floor.
So I tried to reload 5.10BR15S which worked well towing and guess what now I get "error unknown software" So I try 5.11 other software to date and same issue. But 5.13AR21E loads just fine. I put truck back to stock before up dating Jr. Should I not? Maybe it needs latest factory updated that latest version has or it won't work on older version??
So am I doing something wrong loading software or is this just the way it is? Because I can't find that warning statement anywhere.
Thanks for any insite on this my friends,

Keep the current file in case. That way if the newest one isn't much better, can revert back to it.

Sorry not following. I have every file since 5.10 old pc crashed so I lost everything since prior to 5.10. I've had Jr. since it came original with 5.07. Is that what you mean I'd have to have 5.07 to revert back to then choose any?
Ok read your post again. But it won't even load previous file. Thats what is PMO.

Once you load a later version you cannot go back to a previous version without some technical intervention. Smarty has to update their software with new flashes from Dodge or it won't load on the truck. Once the software is updated with the new flashes previous versions are obsolete and will not work.

So this, oh I don't like this version I'll go back is a line of well you know. Marco need state this as so. Never had a need to go back and test a difference till now. Sorry getting tired of thinking one thing and really not getting any choice to return. I understand new versions have latest factory updates. Why not allow to reinstall older "Mads version" with current oem updates. Factory updates are just a bunch of BS anyways, most I know Marco has worked around making better. I'm guessing sales are lower on 5.9 so it's harder to invest in making it happen. I know 6.7 in new wave so. Guess I'll live with what I have but this makes me leery of ever updating again as I won't have the choice to return back. I guess I thought thats why we had the right to choose the version that works best for each individuals desires. Thanks Guys,

If you don't get any dealer updates, you can always load a new tune and go back to what you were previously running. The factory update is what stops the older tunes from being compatible. I haven't had a factory flash since 2009, and I've swapped back and forth between 5.12 V17 through 5.13 V21 without a problem.

Well I must be special because truck hasn't been to dealer in 2 years. And no software prior to current works period.

I have all the smarty versions from the s06 that ever came out since new, used to go back and forth all the time trying different settings and version got the best mileage from the version it was shipped with the 4.11 tunes well,MY LUCK RAN OUT. Installed the latest revo and cannot go back just like you. That sucked.Wish there was a flash we could use to go back to old tunes just like you can do nandroid back ups on a rooted cell phone.ARGGGG

Yep. Loading the current version of Smarty is the same as getting a dealer flash and updating the OS.

One has to stay within the flash level supported by the Smarty versions.

What enumerator makes the flash incompatible? I changed between v19, v20 and v21 without issue for at least three months before deciding on a setup.

As long as the versions of Smarty support the same level of OS from Dodge you can switch back and forth. When MADS releases an update that is for a new flash from Dodge THEN you cannot go back once it is loaded.

I think its the level number not the version that causes the incompatibility, or whatever Marco is calling it.
