Smarty S06-POD.. BOOOST!!

03' 2500, HE-351 upgrade, adj elbow,5 speed, 4x4, 4.10 gears, 265-70-17 tires.

Ok, just got the Smarty Friday. First thing I did was correct the tire height. It was set to 33.75" tires and had my speedo 6 mph off.
Then I set her to SW-8 and headed home. After the clutch slipped in 5th gear doing about 35, , I backed it all the way out to 50% of stock and drove it about 15 miles to check mileage. While the mileage was better, the truck couldn't get out of it's own way. I could see using half power on a long trip not pulling anything, but other than that, no.

I now have it on SW-7. Good power, no clutch slip and getting 20+ mpg.

When I swapped my turbo for the newer/larger HE351, I installed a boost elbow and adjusted it to top out a 29-30 psi.

HOWEVER, since installing SW-7, I am exceeding 40 psi. I am trying to decide on adjusting the elbow accordingly to get back down to ~ 30 psi, or backing the tune down to 5 or six and seeing what happens with the boost.

Anybody else had similar happen and if so, what did you end up doing? De-tune via Smarty, or adjust the boost elbow to release sooner?

Not sure about the clutch. I bought the truck used. But, my brother thinks it is not stock based on pedal feel and the way it grabs.

No reason to back down the boost with the HE351. 40psi is ok. More air equals lower EGTs.

You'll be fine with 40 psi. The HE351 is pretty much maxed out after that. Anything more and your just pushing hot air. The HG and hoses are good up to 50 psi.
