You don't have my choice.
Wish I could go back in time and re-load the originally released software that Smarty first came with when the first group went out the door.
But, 4.2 if it were me.

As for the plugs popping, have you looked at the coolant by-pass kit from enterprise engine? It allows you to "set" whatever pressure you want (0-50 psi) that you want pressure to release, so you don't blow the side plugs out.
I've not tried 4.2, but I have tried the 4.4. It seems on my truck, that Wild #8 + pressure box was stronger than 4.4 alone, but don't have numbers to back that up.

Yeah, try http://www.enterpriseengine.com/
It's not listed on the website, but call and talk to them...they'll know what you're talking about. The fit was perfect, and installation was straight forward. --Eric

That Kit looks like the cats tooch. DZ2...If you are worried buy a spare thermastat and pull both barbells and drill to 3/16...Good insurance as others who have plated the rear have popped the sides. I ran the "play" engine to the max at 90psi of boost and no loose plugs. The bypass valve is what should come on the truck from Cummins....Perfect. Good luck, Kerry

DZ2, you should be fine. It's 40minutes drive to my track and the truck is perfectly warm by the time I grocery get to there. Having it all the same temp at light usage is the key...jump in and romp and everything goes. I blew my headgasket 1 mile from my house on a launch after a stop sign after an evening of flogging at the track.ks
