Does running any of the programs in the winter time hurt the engine? Like when starting the truck at cold temps (below 32*F) with added timing or anything like that? Would I be better running the stock SW in winter time or would I be fine running SW3? Thanks for your help.

Ok, some mileage reports
Alright guys/gals,
A long trip over the weekend (2 college football games, pennsylvania->(VT vs Maryland)->(SC vs Arkansas))gave me the opportunity to take a comparison look at the mileage. This wasn't purely scientific but I did get a sense of which settings gave me the best mpg with probably about 85% highway driving at speeds from about 70-77 mph. First of all, the revo settings do not seem to give me what the original programs did on #1 and #2. Keep in mind though that my old number 2 was probably number 3. Here is what I have seen.
#1 Economy - TM4 TQ2, probably the best economy if you are someone that accelerates a little hard, city drive a bunch, I could see from the overhead that this was trending much lower for me than the original #2 so I did not bother getting an ultimate reading but would have maybe been around 18 mpg.
#2 Towing TM4 TQ2, I netted 18.3 mpg hand calculated with mostly highway at about 70-77 mph. Not bad since the winter fuel is out there I think.
#3 Performance TM4 TQ4 (hoping it will be easier on the torque converter at around 50 mph if I step on it), I netted 19.3 with a little more back roads driving than happened for #2 and also at 70-77 mph. Pretty good if the winter fuel is around.
Best I have ever done was driving more slowly like 60-65 on the original setting #2 (which was really sw#3 I think unless that was just the beta software) was right at 20 mpg for almost all highway driving. I think the revo sw3 with the timing 4 and the TQ4 will be as good or better than that setting. So , if you are squeezing out mileage, put the JR on its highest setting (#3), tm 4 and keep your foot out of it. Gained me a solid +1 mpg over #1 or #2 settings. Hope this helps...

i cant get my mileage to perform well with city and country driving on tm4 on any setting tm3 seems a little better for whatever reason. almost all timing i seem to get a funny sound if i mash the throttle

Ah64id,
Do the TQ's map over to the various original and beta versions like the TM's do? Or was TQ not managed there? It would be kind of nice to know what total settings (TM and TQ) were for at least the orig. and beta 4.
Thanks for the explanantion to what's going on w/ REVO. This by far is the best explanation I have seen yet. W/ REVO we have so many options, its going to take a while for users to get some good data out there for what works w/ what.
Beta 2 did great for me on the freeway non-towing (that Idaho trip I took in June). I would like to get metter MPG in town for the very few times that I drive the truck. Looks like Carwash put out some good settings to try for SW1. Perhaps city driving might yield better MPG w/ SW2? My best towing MPG has been Beta4 on SW2 which was really SW3.
Can you clue us in on what is happening between the 3 SW levels. Seems like we can make so many changes in 1 level, what's changes in the next level?.. another variation in TM and TQ or something else all together.
i.e. if SW1 was say TM3, was SW2 TM4 . If this is giving away secrets then disregard my questions. The engineer in me wants to know how it works!

The TQ management stayed the same from the original SW to beta 4, with the exception of beta 1 software.. thou not many people have that. The standard TQ setting is TQ2 on the.
All the Timing and Tq settings are the same from SW1-SW3.. What changes from SW1-SW3 is the duration. SW1 has stock duration, SW2 has longer duration, SW2 has the longest duration. But Timing 3 on SW1 will be very similar, if not the same, as Timing 3 on SW3.
I plan to try SW2 for mpgs around town.. but right now I am towing too much to change it.

Great, thanks.. by duration you mean how long the injectors are open? And you speak of soot.. I never thought to look at my oil for faster sooting.
I wish I had the time to test all this but I simply don't drive the truck all that much. It's hard to justify when my Jetta is getting me consistent 42mpg to work. I am looking for the best of what you guys get so I can make my settings and go, once I download the REVO . I appreciate all that you have done with this project and all that others have done as well. In the end, it will save a bunch of us some time.
