Smarty Jr. worth updating?

Just got a used Smarty Jr. and the thing smokes a lot, so, I have heard that the new tunes online for download have lessened this smoking. What have you guys found? Let me know, other than the smoke, the thing has made my truck haul (with new turbo, and DDP injectors of course).

I think its good to do the update. It makes it so you can fine tune it to what you are doing. Down load the revo and have fun. here is a good thread on the revo. look at ah64id's post lots of good info. You dont want smoke, you can fine tune it.

It is very confusing looking at all the tuning options with the REVO software. So here is another question; if I just run the standard tune on the SW 3 (100HP) setting, will the new REVO make more power than that setting or is the stock smarty tune in the performance mode about the max cabability of this programmer? So what are the different versions of the Jr.? Next time I plug it in I will pay attention to what version I have. Thanks for any info.

I think the original fall 08 ( don't know the number ) is the most powerful tune. Everything after that was a reduction to try and clear up smoke issues...

In the old version there were complaints about a lot of smoke, so out came revo that fixed this by letting you adjust the timing and tq on your own (fine tune) If you have downloaded #3 100 hp, revo will not increase horse power, you adjust timing and torque only. If you download the #3 100 hp that is the max this programer goes for horse power, standard and revo. I know some would rather not down load revo but for me I have not regretted it and I really like the fine tuning it offers me. This is off of MADS site about the JR REVO

So basically the standard tune SW3 100 HP level is the most timing (REVO #4), and least torque management (REVO #4)? Keep the info coming, I think it's starting to make sense.

Its takes some getting used to but you are close:

(TM4 TQ2 is the original software)

TQ2 will provide you with the most TQ

TQ4 will provide the least TQ= easiest on your transmission

Ok, now I understand, I think I will stick to the stock tune and just deal with the smoke, don't want to have any less power, if anything I would like more power.
