Smarty Jr. "not ready for emissions test" light
So I recently installed a some Smarty Jr software and have it on the Performance setting. It's getting colder here in Missouri and I wait to start my truck after the wire light goes out...then the MIL blinks. I think it means "not ready for emissions test". Is there any fix to this or is this part of the deal with a Smarty Jr???

Well, it for sure doesn't mean not ready for emission test. Never herd of such a thing, the vehicle doesn't have an emission check list like a gas motor before starting.
Is the MIL light on constant? or just flashes during the start-up?
Have you checked for codes, 3 key cycle style or check with the Jr?
Once checked for codes report back.
BTW what are you waiting after the wait to start light goes out?

Thanks for commenting. I checked and no codes by way of 3 key turn method or Smarty. The only thing I get is a flashing engine light after waiting for the wait to start light to go out. It does this for 5 seconds and then goes out. I found it doing this by accident because someone called me in the process of starting my truck and just happened to wait a little longer. It does this even when my truck is returned to stock. I believe I read on another forum that the process that I have described is outlined and an indication of the truck not being ready for emmisaions testing, in the owner's manual (which I don't have). I will drive the truck for awhile and see if it something that only happens if the truck is not warmed up to operating temp.

the flqaashing light after the grid heater light goes out is a warning that the coumputer is not seeing the proper inputs for a running engine.
This comes from the early days of engine coumputers its a code, 11 engine not running.
hope this helps

I understand that if the engine is not running then the check engine light comes on but according the the owner's manual:
"
this light is part of an onboard diagnostic system which monitors the emissions and engine control system. If the vehicle is ready for emissions
testing the light will come on when the ignition is first
turned on and remain on, as a bulb check, until the engine is started. If the vehicle is not ready for emissions testing the light will come on when the ignition is first turned on and remain on for 15 seconds, then blink for 5 seconds, and remain on until the vehicle is started. If the bulb does not come on during starting, have the condition investigated promptly.
If this light comes on and remains on while driving, it suggests a potential engine control problem and the need for system service.
Although your vehicle will usually be drivable and not need towing, see your dealer for service as soon as possible.
I only noticed my truck doing this after installing the Smarty software but I think it was just a coincidence

What railroadone said here is absolutely correct. If you turn on the ignition, then wait too long to start the truck, or wait too long after you have waited for the grid heater coil light to go out, the trucks computer has an expectation that you will start the truck, when you don't, it then flashes at you. It does THINK like it has an expectation of a running engine soon after you turn on the key or after the grid heater coil says its ok to start. That 'feature' so to speak was programmed into one of the ECM upgrades/reflashes, about the same time as the door open warning/horn beeping stuff when you put the truck into gear and have the door open, before that, the truck DID throw a code if you waited too long , now it just flashes at you.
