Smarty Jr 70hp setting vs. Quad XZT 65hp box

I currently have the XZT box and am happy, but of course wouldn't mind a little more power. I'm NOT going to build up the tranny, add injectors or upgrade the turbo so if I got the Smarty Jr I would program the 70hp setting and be done.
Would I notice any difference? Is it worth spending another $500?

I just uped my dosage today while bored in a parking lot. Decided to bring the smarty out and try the 70hp compared to the 40hp which i've been using for about two weeks and love the throttle response. So far i haven't seen my boost change. I think the only program that should be taken into caution is the 100hp.

I did the same thing. When form the XZT to the Jr. Smarty has way more bottom end. XZT has more top end.........in my opinion. Works for me, Im not racer anyways and welcome the bottom end grunt. BTW im on the 70hp tune

I have both the x2 that I run in the 65hp setting and it runs good. I took it off and downloaded the 70 hp smarty jr. This runs great, seems to run smoother, shift better ect. and it doe's have better low end without noticing a loss on the top end. I have them both stacked on the truck now and it runs very good. I am going to take the quad back off to extend the life of my tranny and the 70 hp jr tune is plenty for everyday driving.

From having both on my truck, I will say that the Smarty Jr is defiantely a lot stronger on the low end with a good bit more smoke as well. the X2 XZT is a little stronger on the high end with a higher max boost than the Jr.

I have run both and felt that the Smarty has more power in the 70hp than the Quad does even in the 100hp mode. Everyone always says Smarty has more low end...and it does. But in OD lockup cruising along, you get on the throttle, but not enough to downshift, the Smarty on 70hp has way more ooomph than the Xzillaraider in 100hp mode. And more smoke.

You guys need to put the Smarty on the dyno. On the last Smarty it started making the same power on level 3 as it did on the higher levels.

If they are pouring smoke and making that much power on a 70hp setting, it is probably not 70hp. It might be a good deal but, it takes fuel to make power, more fuel = more egt and more broken parts.

Put anything I sell on a dyno and it will be what it says it is. Not an arbitrary number over what I say it is. I think it is important to know that when you say it is 65hp, it is 65hp.

Think about that before you fry your clutches or torque converter.

this is not a pissin match, both smarty and quad say thier products are good for x hp and they are. Period. Just at different rpm's and how you get there. What about torque? What about SOTPM seat of the pants meter? different stokes for different folks. I have had both and they both are different.

To be honest if it is your product just talk about your product, not the comps, it makes you look bad especially if your info is wrong.

I have both the XZT X2 and the Smarty Jr and go back and forth on which one I like better. IMO I feel that the XZT is a much better daily driver box with very smooth power delivery and easy driving abilities. I have the commander control center and really like the adjustablilty of the XZT. Up here in MN with the occasional slick road the Jr is a little aggressive and would not recommend it with the more aggressive TM, definately will not let my wife drive with it installed on slick roads. The reason I wanted to try the Jr was to see what a modified TM was like and I really like it a lot but it is DEFINATELY harder on the stock drivetrain. One thing that the smarty does that the quad does not and that is keep the EGT's down, I love the quad stuff but when towing heavy the XZT runs a little warm for me to be comfortable on long hauls.

All in all besides the stronger low end of the JR they seem to perform very similiar seat of the pants acceleration on the 70 and 65 settings. The JR will give you a code reader, high idle enable and speedo calibration for larger tires if you want that stuff. Both are very high quality and come with very good customer service, I would recommend either to anyone.

Silkywood,
I have both, the Smarty Jr. will out run the XZT no problem both on the same advertized setting. Is it worth another $500 since you already have the XZT? Well only you can determine that. I will give up my Smarty Jr. when they pry my cold dead fingers from around it. That, or when they give me the Smarty Sr.

I sold my Edge Juice/Attitude because the Smarty Jr. is so much better. I already had guages. I plan on keeping the XZT to stack with the Smarty for better fuel economy. Smarty for timing and duration performance, XZT for added pressure. If it doesn't produce what I want then I'll sell the XZT.

I agree with jballou, product producer talking about the competitors really doesn't seem right.

Thank you Smary Jr. for giving me a little extra than what I thought I was paying for.

I have owned only the smarty jr. I have been on 70 hp for a couple of weeks of daily driving. My trans shifts good and I really like the added power. Next month i start towing my 5th wheel, cant wait!!

I've only had a xzt, worked great- However, If I spent 500 bucks on my truck it would have to be a BIG DIFFERENCE. I don't like smoke. Some do, some don't. Also, - I like to hear from the vendors, any andall, it is an open site. I imagine he knows more about his product than anyone else. No I am not naeive(sic), yes they are trying to sell product, just makes for more interesting thread.

my experiance with quads tow box and the smarty was different than most.

the xzt 65hp felt a lot stronger from the bottom to the top.

i think i had the smarty on 70hp, whatever setting is suggested for a stock auto.

kinda made me wonder if my quad was puttin out more than it was suppose to.

decided the smarty was not for me as my truck is "mostly stock"

just my .02
