John, Half power mode.....that'd save some fuel.....and so would the 30hp and so would the 60hp.....depending on the position of the hockey puck under the accelerator pedal ks

The talk at one time was that this mode would have a setting for fuel economy and that it would get 2 to 3 more MPG in everyday driving with out a hockey puck under the gas peddle . It was not to be a power mode back then just more of a tuner , what happened ? I for one have little interest in just tearing up a 45,000 dollar truck and if I want to go fast a 8000 lbs truck is not my choice of vehicles . All I can see happening is we will have a whole bunch of junk trucks on the market in a few years that have been beat to death and the Dodge Cummins reputation will take a hard hit . Buying a good used truck with a 5.9 will get harder and with the rumors I hear on the new engine we will not even be able to buy a new one worth it's weight either .

Okay, out comes the grandpa's. Don't take offense to that, but it is a performance programmer, and you do not have to go out and put it on #9 and haul ****. Like the previoous post, the lower the setting # the more mellow the programming for that #. I had a SMARTY for my 2nd gen that I traded, and it had the fuel saver, and by anyone telling you they got 3 more mile per gallons you should raise an eye brow. I got about a 1.5 increase on mine, and I am sure if you do the math, the SMARTY will pay for itself pretty darn quick.

Be a little more patient, I am sure Bob or MARCO will see your rant and answer your question. Or you could call Bob and ask him directly. He has a website for MADS Electronics..

Thanks Bob I think that would be a option that most would want , even for us non grandpas . When I first read about the Smarty the MPG issue was number one and all at once I hear very little about it . So from what I think you are saying their is still some work to be done on it before finial release . Our are you saying that there will be up dates available at a later date to Smarty . I have nothing against more power but in most cases I don't need it but who couldn't use some more MPG . These trucks stock can tow some amazing loads at safe EGT's and I wonder at which of the 1-10 setting of the Smarty that can still be done at ? I have a lot of faith in Marco but I am not hearing The information I want to hear yet so that is why I ask . I sure didn't want to upset the still wet behind the ears crowd , no offence just asking . I have been following Marco for a few years and waiting , but when it was first talked about it (a programmer for the 3rd generations ) we were told very little horsepower increase and a setting for MPG would be available . It just seems we went down a entirely different road now and I was wondering if that road was still going to be available , thanks again Bob .

Customer Service?

Well, you can call it that way if you want to but I see it from a different perspective.

See, I use my truck as a daily driver just like everybody else on the here. That makes Marco the first Smarty customer. You know, I'm kinda picky and jealous about my truck. Whatever addition to my truck HAS to work as it is supposed to or I'm not happy with it. I think it's the same for you, isn't it?
If I pretend a great product from others, my own product has to be a great one too. Don't you think so?

Whatever suggestion to make my product better is and will always be WELCOME!

I think the VP Smarty has become a really fine working toy with the help of you all. I feel with the CR one it'll be the same!

The fuel saver.
With the VP Smarty there has been quiet some testing done.
The result is, the fuel saver mode based mainly upon timing provided about the same savings as the CaTCHER ones. The fuel savings with the CaTCHER come from a different concept than the timing alone, yet yield the same result .

Here we go with the "30Hp" file on the SmartyCR , call it a fuel saver if you want to...

Marco

John Halter,

Save your banter for another post. Junk trucks my ****. They lucky person that gets my truck down the road will be really smiling. Properly built trucks will put the power down for miles and miles. They will last far longer than some yoyo who can't properly service a stock truck.

Back to the subject....hooray for the Smarty. I can't wait. Has anyone been contacted yet on the preorder list? I need mine yesterday to kill some TM and rev a little higher!

Your answer to the fuel mileage setting...This is Level #1....

Seriously though, I want the fuel mileage also, but I am all for the performance aspect of it too. SO I feel you on the fuel mileage, and I believe that once MARCO takes a little vacation from all the time he has put into this thing the last few months, we can expect to see some great upgrades available through internet downloads...

Cool bike but not what I was thinking and how do you hook a flat bed trailer behind that thing . Aaa a down load from the computer down the road , so this thing can be changed anytime Marco comes up with a new idea , I like the sounds of that . I know a concept of a product can change drastically from the original idea to production and you got to admit from the posts at the beginning to now this is a different animal entirely . It sounds to me that this thing has the capability to make us all happier . I seem to have stepped on some toes with a few of my comments , I did not mean to and hope they can recover . A look around the used truck market before and after some of these add on's came out will show a great decline in the quality of what can be bought . So many people tend to omit the rest of the drive train when up grading a truck so what can you expect in the end but a very tired truck . I should not have called them junk though and I hope Cummins god's will forgive that slip just truck that need serious TLC . What I need is a programmer that will not take away from my trucks dependability plus give me some extras and it sounds like you believe that is what you have . I don't want a break everything and get towed home setting , some do not me . I want a nice setting when I am pulling 25,000 and one for driving around empty plus a few in the middle .

Yeah, the SMARTY can be upgraded whenever they put an update on the website.

It would say that the reason it is going to get better, is because it has been put out do to very high demand. I mean evryone and their grandma has been wanting one of these. Or me at least.

Also, if you read Bob's post, he wants our input on it also. SO basicly this is just solid foundation for it, and the house will be built from there.

John,

Reread the posts...it sounds like the 30 and 60 hp settings are EXACTLY what you need.

Or a BDDL Tow, or a Superchips, or a Quad, or a MP-8 or a Juice, or a VA, or a ???????

Every single module out there tuned into their lower settings will provide increased performance, or mileage gains depending on how far you push the skinny pedal. It is the nature of the beast. Try a few...and find out for yourself.

Pressure boxes will give you a mileage increase...because the provide a "net" injection timing increase. Timing Duration boxes will give you a mileage increase, because the modify timing directly. Intakes and exhausts will provide minore efficency improvements and net some mileage increase. It is no secrete.

Only a couple modules out there...whom have a fairly well documented bad rap...will damage your truck. It is kinda like the "guns don't kill people, people kill people arguement"...use good judgement.

I have tried some of those but could never find one that covered all my needs if you know what I mean . I have been waiting for what seems like forever for the Smarty because I was thinking Marco was going to make all my dreams come true and just was not reading what I wanted to hear . It just sounds like excitement of all that extra power over ran the information I wanted which is understandable . When all the excitement wears off it looks like my wants and needs may just be a down load away if they are not already available .

Now that its out, I'm looking forward to the (not for the faint of heart update) Fuel to 4000 & no speed limiter Its anti climatic to hit a speed limiter. Even if you never get a chance to feel it pulling past 120 its nice to know its there.
Ive done battle with a Mustang GT 5.0 from 80 to 125 in my 12 valve. Lets just say that Mustang driver learned a new respect for the Cummins.
