the sliver 62 was a killer turbo i ran one for a few months before i steped up the the bullet and you wont need studs i run the bullet with no studs and dont plan on studding untill the twins get her in a month or so. but that 62 i ran was bad it spooled as soon as you touched the long skinny pedal.

I'd still say, if you are that undecided and may/may not go more on improvements-- 62/65/13ss...
Faster spool, less chance of bark/surge (see the HTT recommendations above) fits your needs right now with some room to grow and if you really want a fair bit more power later, this makes a perfect secondary turbo for twins-- put a K31 or s400 under it and smile!!

Ghost Ram,
I am in the process of changing my stock turbo to the II Silver62. I am hoping to be driving it later this week with the new Tranny/Turbo. I will be running stock injectors and Smarty. I will provide my thoughts after having real world comparison.
Our trucks should be fairly similar in mods. I am not sure how different 4.5 injectors are compared to the 06 ones.
I am excited to see what the difference will be like for my daily driving.

after speaking w/ anthony at htt earlier today i am even more confused as he recomended their 64 w/ the 65 wheel.
he told me i wouldnt notice any difference in spool up between the 62 and 64.
i dont know if i can take his word for that?

82snpr they are very helpful and have excellent customer service. I told Jarred what my truck has and what my future plans were and all he said was "I got you covered, you will be very happy with what I am going to order for you". They are in utah? (right?) anyways I live around Atlanta and in four days my turbo was at the door. For a west coast deivery to the east coast in four days was pretty impressive. Turbo was installed the next day and I can't wipe the grin off my face for nothing. My wife says it is to fast, but the kids smile just like me.

All of those turbos are slow to spool compared to your stock turbo with about 60 mm turbine, and 9cm exhaust housing. If you want more power but characteristics like your stock turbo, the 62/65/12 or 13ss are the way to go. If you want to shift power up a tad in the rpm's and have 50 more peak HP, get the 62/71/14 or 13ss. And if you want to shift power up even farther in the RPM's almost out of your common usage range, go with the 62/74/14 II. The silver 62 will run a lot higher egt's than a HTT 62/71/13. The Silver would start to run cooler than the HTT once you hit 1450* or so at well over street driven speeds.
My final thoughts, if spool up matters, steer clear of big exhaust turbine wheels. If peak dyno numbers matter to you, get a big ol nasty turbined turbo. A 62/71/13 will be hands down more fun on the street.

I would say get the 64mm. but I like to go a little bigger than needed. if you arent gonna be hooked to a trailer everyday a 66 would work pretty good also. Jdearden has posted before he pulls his horse trailer and i think he has a boat also that he pulls alot with his truck and its a sps66 I believe

from my past experience I have learned its always better to error on the smaller side with a turbo for the street = drive everyday smile everyday
for dyno & drag strip use in most all cases bigger is better !
