silencer ring
i tried last night to pull the silencer ring out of an 05 cummins 6 spd. and couldnt get it to pop out. does any one have a specific tool they use or what do i do to get it out?
also what are the fins in the plastic intake tubing for? do they direct air into the turbo or restrict it?
Thanks

There's a snap ring holding it in place. I used a couple of small flat screwdrivers to get it worked out of there being careful not to gouge anything or get any trash in there. Then the silencer ring just falls out. I've got a 6" intake now but when it was still the stock tube I left those fins in there. I didn't think they restricted air flow. Some people think they do. With no hard evidence one way or the other do whatever you think would be best.

Those little plastic fins are just part of a intake muffler. Its there to keep the whistle at unacceptable low levels. Thats why most people on here either remove the fins or change intake tubes.
