Side exit exhaust

I'm thinking about putting some tubing together for a catback side exit exhaust.(exits under the rear right passenger door right in front of the tires.) I was wondering if anyone has done this and if they thought it would be too close to the passenger compartment? Thanks in advance.

I have two friends running this set up. One is on a 2006 Dodge Dually, wheel looks like . And one is running this set up on a 2003 Chevy DMax, his rim looks like too. If you dont mind cleaning the wheel frequently (read as daily) it might be ok. Both set ups are too loud for my taste as well.

I have wondered the same thing. my wheels are matte black so i really don't care about smokey colors. I actually wanted this set up but i don't think they have it in a diesel set up. I saw something similar on a PSD and it looked tough!

Back in the late 90's Frd tried this and I believe it only made it through 1/2 of a production year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They had problems with the tires getting too hot

I would not suggest it.

I ran it with a magnaflow muffler on my 1st gen. I wouldn't do it again, the noise was crazy. Pull into a covered parking deck and all the car alarms went crazy.

Mine is like this and I love it..I can pull up next to a ricer with his music rattling my windows and the exhaust will completely block his sound
The rear fender and the wheel do get a little black, but it washes off pretty easy..and I think it looks kinda cool too!

Here is member FordSux8269's
( https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...er.php?u=31849 ) rr wheel running a side exit exhaust. His is a 12 valve though, and prob smokes a little more than a 3rd gen.
