It is pretty said when a company tries to build a clutch off pictures from our website. They should at least have the curtesy to buy one to make sure they are doing it right.
As soon as I heard a starter spacer was needed for their clutch, I figured out how they were able to have a setup so quickly after ours came out. I sure hope they didn't get to many of them out in the field. They even went as low as to copy and paste our HD hydraulics to their website. Funny thing is they don't even know what we do to them to make them work.

I see the MIBA pucks are overheated. Slipping a bit? Whats the effective clamp load of the pressure plate? MIBA should hold your 550 HP with the right clamp force.
The good thing about MIBA is it is less likely to eat the flywheel if the disk is slipping.
That being said about, I think the feramic used by SouthBend is the "END ALL" feramic on the market and blows the MIBA away in ultimate durability and high heat conditions.
If you do go feramic VS MIBA, go with the SB feramic. There are several feramic facings in the market and they just cant measure up. I have seen and tried most of them, if not all of them. SB Feramic is head shoulders above the rest.
Having a full engagement of the clutch disk is important too. OMG!

actually i only had that clutch slip once and it was doing a third gear 4x4 drop. thats the only time it slipped.
i thought it was able to hold the 555 i put out also. but im not sure my stock clutch gave me my best dyno numbers. i was unable to put the truck in reverse without forcing it to get off the dyno. the clutch pedal felt like a rock when i got back in.
im very glad i went with the sbc setup and its holding great.

Yeah MIBA is very sneeky. Its is downright insidious trying to feel the slip. You wont always feel it or even see it on the tach. It is even hides very well on a chassis dyno.
I think it is CIA type sneeky myself
It has the ability to slip away power, but not always loose full grip. A partial HP reduction throughout the mid and upper RPM band.
Like I said, insidious. ):
The feramic is easier to ferret out. Most times - it holds or slips enough to feel or see.
When MIBA has been slipping, the fool proof way to detect it is look at the flywheel surface and the pucks. The pictures above are classic "slippy clutch" ( a patented word by some users on the NWBombers )
Life is good,

Slippy Clutch Club checking in.
I would call Peter ASAP, but I am waiting for the statute of limitations to run out for smoking him out several times on the trip from Piers Diesel to the NWNationals in 2005.

my sbc ofe is holding with my smarty, quad race, sps 62/14, and bigger tires. and is very smooth.
i will not do 3rd gear launches, so i cannot attest to the holding power under that condition. takes about 500 miles to smooth out. it is quiet as stock, no vibes, not real grabby, and pedal pressure is very close to stock.
you will love it.
