sbc 3250 ductile flywheel

I finally have the cash for a new clutch, and this is the one that Peter recommended about 6 months ago when it was brand new, I was wondering if anyone's been running it and how they like it.

I just got mine installed and i love it. It feels like there is nothing it cant pull. It is a little noisy but you cant hear it when driving just when your stopped at idle. I have already gotten used to it where i dont notice it anymore. A great clutch!

Thumbs up Sbc 3250 Dd

I drove a member's '05 G-56 w/SBC 3250 and was impressed with it's driveability. I got used to it in a few miles. Idle noise is present, but the level is still much quieter than the 2nd. gen I had. Good price on this site for it too.

Interesting observation. I expected that too,but I didn't find it any slower than my stocker. I must shift slow naturally. I did have to match rpm's to vehicle speed when downshifting to 2nd at a rolling speed around corners etc. It acted like a tranny who's 2nd gear synchros were getting tired. This was a minor thing though. I do it on my '07 to reduce driveline torque anyway. Good solid clutch. The owner said the installers were really impressed with the quality built into this product.

I'm interested in real-world input from folks who've switched from the factory LUK in front of the G56 to the SBC DDs... truck shifts incredibly fast stock, and I hate to lose that with a dual-disc.

Can you qualify the difference?

I've heard if you want a good, solid DD clutch that also shifts really smooth and fast, is not very loud, and you can pull trailers with, that the Haisley street drag clutch is the way to go. It costs quite a bit more though. I don't quite know which one I'm gonna go with, but its getting closer to that time, so I need to figure it out pretty soon. I dono how much longer my stockers gonna hold up.

i don't really get why a dd is slower to shift, or even what that means to be honest. is it harder to get in gear or what?

since there are 2 friction discs and a heavier pressure plate and the stationary plate, there is more inertia in the rotating mass, it takes time for the speeds to change enough to easily get it into gear... does that make any sense? cause i just confused myself.

XLR8R, I just replaced my stock clutch on monday 9-7-08 with the 3250 and it is way slower shifting than the stock clutch, I mean a BIG difference. It's ok for me though because i will not be doing any racing with it just pulling trailers and sled pulling a tiny bit. Hope this helps.

Hey Mike,Nelrod has a 3250 on a G56.He can give you some input.I don't know if its slower but I rode with him one day and he spun the tires thru 3rd and barked the heck out of 4th on dry black top.Thats on a moderately modded dually running some heavy 19.5 wheels and tires. My impression was there was some quick shifting going on!

That figures! Nelson always talks like he's just another Gray Hair cruising around... shoulda know anybody with a racing stripe is gonna have a heavy shoe.

I'll have to find out if he can shift that DD without lifting!
