S400 or S480?

Getting ready to drop the wad on the twins.Just wondering what the spool difference is going to be between the 2. I still tow with the truck and would like something "relatively" quick spooling.I have even considered going to a 65 wheel on my 62/13ss to help with spool up.Lets hear the opinions.

In my opinion, any time you depend on towing, you are going to want better spool starting at a lower RPM... How that does it is dependent on your secondary. Top HP support is going to depend mostly on what you have on the bottom. Keeping in mind the secondary still has to process what exhaust is coming out and what the primary is feeding it. That said, the turbo you have now can be expected to spool slightly slower in a twins set up. Can you live with that? If the answer is no then go to the 65 wheel. If the answer is yes, then goto the next question... ultimately how much HP do you want to support? In either trim, your secondary will handle either primary choice. The 71 wheel will handle the s480 slightly better but at the expense of lag. I think that anything above 700 as a HP target go s480. 700hp and below, go s400. Just my thoughts, but this is what you should be asking Nathan... With your sticks and TNT, Mp-8... you are close to or up against that 700hp mark with twins any way you cut it.

Well put soulezoo. Not looking for huge numbers.Might need to consider the 65 wheel because the spool up is already a touch slow for towing heavy. If this truck got anywhere near 700hp I would be more than happy.

I'm going with a 62/71/13ss over a s-480. The way I look at it is I've towed a hand full of times with a 66 and it's doable but laggy and hot. I think the twin combo I Want will be ten times better spool the Bullet. If the 65 Wheel would keep up with a 74mm s-400 on the bottom then that what I would do.

Might just go with the 74 S400 and try it with the 62/71.If I'm not happy with spool up I can send it off and get it changed. At least it will be easy to get at to get it off!

With your setup, you want the s480... you will be well into 700's and into the 12's in the 1/4.

I like the S480 as well. With a 66 it not laggy at all but I have alot of fuel. I would not be afraid to have a 62/71/13 as a top and still pull heavy.

A S474 is gona be a bit cheaper than the 480, so IMO you should get the 474 and see how you like it and if its not enough upgrade to the 480.

Judgeing by your posts, I think spool up is top priority and top end hp is secondary. I may be wrong but I think you would like the 74, again, just judging from some of your posts.

IMO go for the s400 non - wastegated & keep your 62-71-13ss for the top turbo !

that setup should be a bit easier on transmissions & will be much better suited for your needs ! vs the higher hp potential & unreal top end of the S480-62-71-13ss combo

Has anybody a twin setup using thier stock turbo and a silver bullet? I was wondering about this since I have both and just need the plumbing and exhaust manifold.

Then he'd be changing the top turbo because the GT42 will lite quicker than his top turbo...
