S&B intake.. Is the "filter" any good. Looks like a K&N! [YUK]

Just curious if the media is any better than a k&n.. I don't feel like sucking dirt into my engine, like I've seen a million times with a K&N, but I don't want to toss it if it's any good..

Thank you!

I've had bad luck with K&N's on diesel motors.
I think the AFE dry or any of the newer dry type filters are better than the oil type.

IMO

Just pick up a Amsoil 4090, and a prefilter

For me the oiled filters get dirty almost immediatly after I clean them, so far my amsoil ive had on for about a month still looks brand new, I checked the intake tube, NO dust/dirt.

I think ill get a prefilter too, to keep more of the larger dirt from getting to it, easier to clean the perfilter more often, and keep the filter cleaner...

Thanks all!

I think I'll do the "grease in the boot test" and see if I get any dust.. When I hold it up to the sun I think I see less light than a K&N which would be good.
Pre filter sock wouldn't hurn either, but once I'm done with my chopped fender inlet, I won't get big chunks in there anyway..

Bumpstops blahhHHH!!!

I'll post picture of my intake.. It's being a "female dog", but should be pretty cool when done..

So I did some looking at the ISO 5011 test and it is NO JOKE! Here's a link I found that did an independent(hmmm, I never buy it, and it seems like AC delco funded this test) test on some different brands for the Dmax..

ISO 5011 test

No S&B in there, but it just gives you an idea of how different brands perform. Kinda surprised at the Amsoil specs..

The S&B is sounding good if it lives up to the specs claimed from them..

If you rule out K&N...there is a 1% spread across the board...

I would never bank on...or worry about...or ever be able to duplicate 1% in the real world.

Go with personal experience...

Oiled foam is hard to beat...

I would like to find a 13-14" long 8" base...4-5" tip with a 6" inlet...UNI.

Till then...I guess I will run my 5 Layer AFE and pray.

I never have had any dust with either the standard or PG7 AFE 6" X 9" so you should be ok. I haven't tried the dry flow AFE though.
