I went with the Volant since I basically got a heck of a deal on it. It was a toss up between the S&B and the Volant.
I have heard of others adding the Amsoil dry filters to the S&B and I might look into that for my Volant once its needed.

You can get a GREAT deal on e-bay for the S&B. I purchased a second filter from S&B directly for $35.00. I do that on the dirt bikes, that way I always have one ready in a plastic bag. The oil tends to work in better after a period of time, and not so wet. Of course the second filter comes oiled, and when I feel like I need to change it, I will clean the other, re-oil it and put it in a baggy for 6 months or untill it's time.

I've had mine for over a year now and like it alot. Cleaning it isn't too bad, takes the afternoon to let it dry, thats where the second element would be nice, i used to do that with my dirtbikes too. Never thought to look on ebay for a spare. I've cleaned to 6 or 7 times now and it comes perfectly clean everytime with no breakdown of the foam so far.
