?s about towing with a sps 62/14.
I am about to start towing my trail truck pretty often and I just didnt know if the sps 62/14 will be too much turbo to tow with or if it will be just fine. I will be towing about 10 to 12k #s. Mostly on flat land but eventually up in arkansas where it gets a little more hilly. I know alot of people tow with the 62/65/12 and it is perfect for them from what I here, so if anyone can give me some input on the sps when its towing I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Michael

So as long as you keep the rpms up it should be good? Does it still keep things cooled down while towing? for example when going up hill? I know when you tow something heavy you should not have the smarty turned up high, but I didnt know if I would need to have it on a higher level to help spool the turbo up. And if I have it on a higher level while towing(sw5) would the turbo still keep things cooled down. I know its a lot of questions but I just want to make sure its the right one befor i bolt it up, cuz if it isnt i can send it back and get a different one that will be right, but if this turbo will work and keep things cool with the smarty up a little and still spool decent enough then it might just be good enough for an all around turbo.

I tow all the time with mine and I love it. You do have to keep the rpms up, which becomes a little more of a challenge with the 35" tires. I am usually towing between 12,000 to 20,000 and I leave the smarty down on sw3. I stay under 1200* most times and cruise down the road at 75. If your speed limit is 55 then you might have a harder time because it will take you out of the sweet spot for rpms. On my 05 I can't lock out the over drive so it gets to be a problem if you don't keep it roll'n. I thoink they went back to where you could lock it out on the 06's so you might be ok. I also like the snow water injection kit. I keep it set on 20% and it helps too. It gets thirsty if i turn it up and pull up a hill, it will drink a gallon of water in 5 miles.

I'm not sure your 62/71/14 will be much different w/ the lower drive pressure wheel, but my 62/65/14 tows great even w/ the Smarty on SW7. The most I tow is about 13K and I have no issues at all.

I have the 62/71/14, and here in new mexico i tow my toy hauler, around 8000#'s with an elevation ranging from 5 to 7000 ft. With my smarty tnt on level 6, timing 2, rail 2, trq 4, and my mp-8 turned to around 40% i cant ever get over 1350 on the pyro. Thats in 5th gear with the rpm's up running a big grade. If i lug it in 6th it will get warm. I try to drive by my pyro. 1250 for extended time.

Thats good if yall are all doing just fine with it then I think it should be plenty good enough. I do 90% of my driving at sea level, and the rest isnt more than about 2000ft above sea level so I think it will be just fine. I just wanted to get some opinions of those that already had it.
