Rule Change, DPF AND CAT
#62
Yes some people think it sounds better,me being one of those people. I've heard mixed things on mpg, some say it helps some say no difference. Removing it usually gives a SMALL boost in hp. Mainly though guys just like the sound,if I wanted quiet I would have bought a Cadillac!

by how much?
I know when I had my old 12v and I went with a 5inch kit with a 51 Donadson It dropped 200 deg.
But on my 04.5 will just removing the cat help any?
I like it really quiet. I tow often and most trips are 600 miles + in a weekend. I have had the truck 8 months and put on 18,000 miles of towing so far.
The only Mod I have right now is a swiss cheese air box and an EZ is on the way.

i gutted the cat the day we bought the wifes '06 ...
first and foremost for reliability ...
ever look thru one? ...
you can hold it up to the sun and only make out a very faint light ...
every '06 i've seen will soot the rear bumper up stone stock ...
every '06 i've observed will roll a faint cloud that can be seen in headlights at night ...
to say that they will never plug up is wishfull thinking imho ...
they are a restriction in the exhaust ...
small restriction maybe ... but a restriction none the less
even if you only gain 100 degree drop in egts and 1/2 mpg increase then it will make a noticeable difference in the long run ...
wifes truck has 60k miles on it now
anyone on here known anyone with a plugged up cat in a gasser?
remember the results?
everyone on here can say what they want ....
I KNOW i will never have a problem with my cat
