I hope replacing both will get him on the road. My bet is the rail sensor.

I am wondering now if the rail pressure relief valve is acting up. The way to test that is to just thread a solid bolt in the rail where the relief valve is. Someone smarter than me will have to fill in the rest of that gap though.

ok, both parts ordered should be in 11:00 tomorrow i quess ill put them in 1 at a time 2 see wich 1 fizes it. i wonder also about the relief valve you talking about, i quess if it fails then its open no maybe closed when it should open to let out extra fuel to go in the return. it def. seemed closed when i had it off earlyer but i dont know, dont this system have like 25-30,000 psi? question i hear some people add a rail press. guage in the cab, where do you tie in to the system? im guessing the relief valve if so could someone remove the return part and like he said install a bolt the proper size, but what about the return banjo it would leak right because it ties back in to the return that comes from the cp3s extrs fuel i think, also thiers a kit some install that adds a second line from cp3 to the rail think i saw it in genos if so then where does it tie in the rail ??? all this is confusing someone with all these heavy fueling mods please chime in , thanks ryan

Well the rail pressure gauge ties into the electronics. You plug it in between the rail pressure sensor and the computer. The rail pressure sensor will read up to I think 27,500 psi or somewhere around there.

ok i was thinking being hooked up mechanicaly but i guess that is too much psi to do that. you replaced you cp3 , because it was bad or a pressure thang? was it hard to replace i dont think ill get into that if these 2 parts dont fix it . this will prob. be the ext. of my work on it, any other ideas would be appreciated, ill know tomorrow by noon.

A CP3 doesn't exactly get replaced, it gets modified. They take yours off (or in my case I had a spare) and modify it for better flow. It's not too bad the put on.

I think any of these trucks will act as if "running" away if you are in N and rev up through 2500rpms then gun it.* I was messing with my truck awhile back when I was trying to diagnose my problem with fuel pressure, I was at around 2500rpms then goosed it and let off, well.. man, she took off, red lined and died?* It freaked me out.... I talked to a buddy that works at a dealer, he said that all CR Cummins will do this.* I don't recommend trying it though.... it's pretty scary

good to hear someone else seeing this but my truck of the same year does none of that at all,rev it to whatever- 3200 even whatever soon as you dump it its back to idel. deal now is the long *** cranks i bet it turns over for 8-10 seconds before it bust off but when it does it runs great , i drove it earlier after replacing the rail sensor, first time ever driving an auto behing a cummins, it runs really hard stock with the ez still off, shocked me on pavement i foot braked it a little to get in a little boost then nailed it , it spun through 2nd and part way in 3rd left 2 very long marks! pretty cool, didnt run like a broke truck ya now, could a bad fca act like what the ez does and up the rail press. and make it run like that, cause i now get code 0193, 0251 and 0088 hope this part fixes it tomorrow not sure what else parts to through at it.

well just finished up with all the new parts, replaced the rail press. sensor, the fca on the cp3, the crank sensor and ran another batch of power service through the filter housing, quess what,..... still long cranks... what gives, as it was after the press. sensor it now runs great, just long crank before it busts off the reason for the crank sensor was i had my stock one from when i did the rok deal, so i tryied it, nothing. I THINK IM DONE unless anyone else has a great idea, im listening please i think he can drive it as is now but i now its not rifgt , my trucks setting right next to it and starts perfect, well perfect for a com. rail truck they dont start like the old 12 valves do, or even the 24 v. VP44 so now what? oh new code just now need to look it up a 0148 and a 0243 first timw ive seen these. ......sugestions guys...
