rim width

HI I was wondering what rim with I should go with. I'm buying a set of helo maxx 8's next week and don't know if I should go with the 8 or 9 inch. Right now im running 295/70 nittos w/ a 2" level kit and the 8's will work fine with that combo, but I was thinking about 33x12.5 or 35x12.5 next and most tires say a nine inch rim. I was talking to a guy at four wheel parts and he said the 9 could have clearance issues and also stick out farther, but I will I be limited on tire choices in the future by going with an 8? Thanks for any help.

you need to figure out the backspacing. Many of us run 12.5 tires on 8inch rims with no problems. but backspacing is the key to making them work with out rubbing

true the backspacing would determine if it would rub or not, but a lot of tires say the minium rim width size is 8.5 or 9 inches. Can you still run an 8 or would that be unsafe to do so.

I run 12.5s on stock wheels.

35s for 20K 37s for the last 2K or so.

No tire shop has ever questioned it. not sure if bfg toyo or any of them would do any thing. prob only if they did not want to warantee the tire.

How wide are H2's, 8.5"? I have 13.5" wide tires on H2's with no problem. I have always run 35" mudders and all-terrains on 8" wide rims. Anything wider usually sticks out too far.

i like the powdercoating. nice color. they also did not do the mounting surfaces, i am having mine re-done because of that issue. back to chrome weld wheels for now.

What is your plan for the hub covers?

Thanks nriver. Yeah, I was disappointed they didn't do the area under the cap. They told me they never do it because too many people complained when they did because it made the caps not fit perfectly. Next time I'll make sure I specify they do everything.

What I did was have an automotive paint shop mix up a matching quart of 1-step paint. I just need to find someone to spray it for me. I don't think I'm going to put any type of cap or cover on.

By the way, that powdercoat color is called "way black". I had my suspension components coated with the same color.
