Recon egt temps
I just installed the Recon egt probe per install directions. I tow a trailer that is about 4000lbs and my egts while cruising 65 range from 900 to 1400. While excellerating from 40 to 65 they can easily reach 1600. I put the probe in top of the manifold like it shows in the picture. I am running the quad standard on 60. Does this sound normal?

I think that elevation makes a difference. With just the XZT box I could get 1450 if I nailed it pulling out into traffic. I live at 4,000ft elev and until I got a bigger turbo I constantly battled temps. For some reason though a timing duration box seems to bring the temps down below 1400. So if you stack a Smarty or Bullydog with your Quad std. you should be able to pick up another 100hp and actually have lower temps. Good Luck, Tom J.

Mine will hit 1600 if I stay in it I make 43 psi boost and can make 1600* but driving normally I stay well below 1450* I made a trip from Salt lake to Boise then to Jordan Valley and south to Winnemucca then back to Salt Lake on I80 it will get hot but its not at all a battle. I've been all through Wyoming with the same results. Have you checked all your intake conections ?

I will have to check all the connections. Somedays the boost will reach 35+ and then somedays it will not go over 28. I was suprised to see it reach 1600 so quickly. I will try the quad on stock setting tomorrow and see if it climbs as high. I think it will.

I have a similar setup and my numbers are the same as yours.
I just can't believe 1600+ easily.
Maybe we need water/meth?

After messing with each setting today I found that stock would get up to 1450 but only a few times. 60hp setting would get up to 1600 pretty easily. 100hp went to 1700. I backed off it when it hit 1700. I think it would of went higher. These temps were on the highway going about 65-70. I like the 60 hp setting for towing and milage but I do not like the high egts. Maybe it is time to try the diablo stack.

After reading a few other post it seems that people with more horse power gains then 60 are not seeing that high of temps. I want to get a new turbo and/or water, but it is hard to justify a new turbo just to run a 60 hp box. If the predator stack adds more power and has lower temps then I can see the advantage of changing over. Why is it that the quad boxes have such high temps, I don't even want to use the 100hp setting with the chance of getting up to 1800. I thought that the recon might not be calibrated right but the stock setting temps seem inline with everyone else.

1700 Better take it easy or you will be getting a new turbo. The smarty software has run the coolest I have ever seen.. I can't hit 1500 degrees pulling my 12000 trailer on #9 and mp-8 on 40%. I have a very large turbo so that helps. Those numbers seem pretty high.. I had the zxt on my 05 and never went over 1500 towing yet alone daily driving..
