Question Recon 3rd Brake Light...Help w/ Problem

Installed it this morning, now that its dark I see the cargo lamps stay on dim when they are switched off in the truck. I pulled it back out and unplugged it and then re-installed it and its the same. Ideas??

Just confirmed mine does it. Unlock the doors, lights come on. Lock doors, lights go out...but there is a HINT of power there for about 45 seconds. Then all goes dark. If I had to hazard a guess, as a Nuke Electrician (and NOT knowing the wiring), I'd say theres a cap in the circuitry.

Me?

I ain't gonna worry about it. There can be NO power there since the light was basically plug-n-play, so it can't be drawing off the truck.

A capacitor I say....

Yeah there is no way a brake light could cause this...the power is getting supplied to the light the light does not supply any power.
If I was home I would go check my stock light right now...cause you got me wondering if it does it with the stock light too???
seems it's supposed to dim out just like the inside lights right???

Nope me's wrong... When I hit the unlock button it will turn on then lock and it will turn immediately off when I open the door and shut it... If I just unlock it and open the door then shut it and let it dim out it will turn immediately off about 1 second before the interior light dim...

is the Recon 3rd brake light LED???
if it is I bet it's not pulling the same amps as a incandescent bulb and the capacitor is not draining as fast as it would with a incandescent bulb......

But the capacitor would be before the on/off switch and relay so it should not matter.

led's will do some stange things, friend of mine had an 03 dodge with a wrecker body that had all led turns and markers on it and with all the lights off the tail lights would always have 1 or 2 led's in each side illuminated, I think it had something to do with the fact that all the lights on these trucks are controlled by the bcm and not just regular switches and as such there can be some trickle voltage that an regular bulb won't illuminate with.

maybe there is a diode that holds the power from back feeding and thats the power the LED is trying to use??
witch is not the same draw as a incandescent would use so it takes longer for the LED to use the power....

Well they said it was normal. For some unknown reason some trucks allow a very small amount of current to flow to the light, this amount is not enough to light a regular bulb but since led's need so little they light up dim.

How about adding a resistor to absorb it, the one I had on my dmax had one? Heath was not in so I am going to call back again and ask. I am not worried about the power drain, I just think it looks stupid at night going down the road.
