rail pressure gauge lighting question

Did those of you w/rail pressure gauge tap into the dimmer switch for lighting? The instructions say not to tap into dimmer wire but to tap into another circuit for lighting so as not to jeopardize dimmer circuit. I can't find another light circuit to tap into. I do have full set of gauges and I don't know of adding this gauge will be enough to overload dimmer circuit. Feedback much appreciated.

I dont think it will matter much, they are pretty low draw bulbs

What about a using a relay? Wouldn't that be safer?

I tapped into the dimmer switch for lighting just like all 4 other gauges. Works fine that way.

Might sound dumb, but I tapped into a dimmed circuit myself, and darn if I can't independently dim/brighten the gauges lights even with the dash lights all the way down OR all the way up.

I have no clue how, trust me, it works.

A good solid 12V can be located in a blue harness up near the column (if you don't have power pedals. I only wanted my gauge lights on when the truck lights were, so I gave up looking for one that was a solid 12V with just the lights on and went with the dimmed line I could get to.

One other thing. As I was poking around behind the headlight switch, I somehow caused the "lights on" bell to go off non-stop and the little cargo indicator to light up. I had to pull the fuse two different times to get it to quit.

Not sure what was up with that, all is well with my gauges too though.

This will be gauge #5. The three gauges in the cubby hole mount are tapped into dimmer wire at heater harness, the other two (one in A pillar and rail gauge in steering column pod) will be tapped into dimmer switch itself. I appreciate all the feedback.

So none of your gauges have lights? My pyro is that way. But a few hours ago I found the parking light wire (I guess it's for clearance lights?) behind the passenger pilar. I pulled it down through the dash, and tomorrow when I get the right connectors, I'll hook up the pyro light.
