quieten down a FIPK?

quieten down a FIPK?
put on a FIPK last week, no real gain in mileage, still hand computes to high 16's, even though it shows ~18-20 @ 55mph if reset
that's with the strait pipe, tonneau, and FIPK.
i guess it's the 4:10's and the wind resistance.
anyways, it whistles like the dickens,
how do you cure that?
it huffs and chuffs some, that's ok, but the droning whistle from GA to SC every few days is a killer. i'm taking the wife's car this week :O
i was thinking of building a box of foam around the filter, glue some on the back of the shield, and put some across.
anyone know where you can buy really dense foam like that? we had it for hull insulation on the SSBN...but i ain't on there no more...

I like the hissing sound K&N you should checked out the forums on this site kn no good keep a close eye on all those rubber connections on your intake tube k&n uses cheap hoses that tear under stress torqueing engine I have had bad expeiriences with them
