Quick Smarty question.

I'm trying to load a new program. When I plug the Smarty into the computer, it used to say "new hardware found" on my screen in the lower right hand corner and I would click on it. Now, I plug it in and it just makes a sound. There's no message at all except an occassional "hardware can't be found" message that has popped up twice. Has anyone got any ideas? Also, I did not set my truck back to stock before trying to reprogram it. Will this make a difference? Thanks..

the sound its making is normal. the new hardware found message should only show up the first time you connect the smarty after you first bought it. (or if you reformatted your PC). Just start the update and you should be fine.

and you don't have to return to stock before loading a new version.

OK.. I downloaded my file into my current downloads screen. I also have the Smarty USB screen pulled up ready for the information to send the smarty. I forgot how I can transfer from current downloads to my Smarty file. I can pull up my existing smarty files through the Smarty USB file button, just not the new program. Any ideas.. I'm sorry for the questions, I'm just horrible with computers.. Thanks again..

Hello , To be able to update your smarty ecm tuner. Please follow these guidelines.

Start by right clicking on your desktop to create a new folder. Rename the new folder smarty.

You will need to download the driver to the smarty folder. Save the driver to the smarty folder http://www.madselectronics.com/downl...DM_2.00.00.zip

You will need the smarty usb.exe This program allows you to update the smarty. Save this to the smart folder http://www.madselectronics.com/downl.../SmartyUSB.exe

The driver and the software programs need to be extracted into the smarty folder using THIS extraction tool. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/s...2.exe?download

Here are the directions for installing the driver http://www.madselectronics.com/downl...stallation.pdf

Once you have the driver installed you can use the smarty usb.exe program to update the smarty software. Click on the smarty icon. Press run. You will now see a seen button. Before you hit the send button you need to load a program into the smarty usb.exe. Click on file. Open , look in the smarty folder to find the smte file to load into your smarty.

Load the file and press run. It will take about 40 minutes to update your smarty.
