Quick filter question??
Take it easy on the replies guys??? You seem to hate Fram. I never used it until now. I have a Fram AirHog in my 06. Are they really that bad?? I looked at it compared to my AFE and it looks like it is higher build quality. If I get enough honest "it sucks" it will be gone tomorrow.
Please let me know.

I don't think anyone can truthfully know how good at filtering that Airhog is. The only way to be really sure is to have had an oil analysis done before install of new filter, then after a few thousand miles with new filter. If silicone levels remain the same or drop, then the filter is doing its job. Other than that, it's all just opinions, and you know what they say about those ....

I think it's generally the oil filters that folks run away from, I've not really heard anything bad about their air filters. That's what I run in the wife's suburban.

Thanks for the replies. I am referring to Fram's version of a K/N, AFE etc air filter. I have been using the K/N oil filter, p/n hp4003 since I got my 03. No problems that I was aware of. I did just find out I have a Cummins distributor in Renton which is very close to my home. I would switch to Fleetguard if I thought my current products are causing damage. Keep in mind I have an 06 now with just over a thousand miles. Should I switch or am I ok.?

Should you switch air filters on your 06'??? I don't understand the question now....
From what I've read here and other places, the stock air filter does a darn good job. Probably a better job than "most" aftermarket filters of keeping out the bad stuff. Without that UOA I mentioned before, no one will have any way of knowing if the Fram filter is good or bad. I don't know of anyone who has done this with a Fram yet...

O.K. I'll stick with the Air Hog and see how it goes. I don't do any driving in extreme conditions. I think any filter will work. The stock filter looks like a pice of garbage to me though. Like all stock filters. Thanks for the reply.
