Yeah, I agree. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone who has actually trashed a turbo from installing a probe, and we are all probably a bit paranoid.

After being really careful cleaning and regreasing the drill and tap frequently, I was surprised that I did get some metal grit out with the magnet, but I bet bits that small would have just passed through the turbo anyway.

Also, when it comes to how far to go in with the tap, I'd suggest trying the pyro fitting periodically. Stop when the fitting will tighten at the same depth as the manifold is thick (or just a bit more)- so all the threads are engaged but the fitting isn't needlessly sticking out in the exhaust flow...

I'm no expert, but that seemed to make sense...

Another quick question on the install. What did you use to seal between the probe and the manifold?

well a hole in the manifold is just an exhaust leak so it is not loud really. it just sound like you have bad header gasket or something. so it is louder but nothing crazy.

I used nothing to seal the probe fitting into the manifold. I just tightened it up and it sealed.

Thanks. I received my kit over a month ago and hadn't had a chance to install due to either having been working weekends, sick or just plain bad weather.

I mounted the gauges today, will drill and tap for the pyro and the boost tomorrow. I'll have to wait until Monday so I can get some tranny fluid from the dealer before I break the tranny line and put a swege lock into it. Wish me luck.
