Question about GDP traction bars

It looks like a well-built and easy to install kit, but I see a potential problem.

If you're clamping the rear mount to the round axle with U-bolts, and that clamping force is what is supposed to keep the axle from wrapping, what happens when you dump the clutch with lots of traction?

In my opinion, you're going to have axle wrap anyway, slipping inside the U-bolts and mount. I also think that axle may take a set (since there is not equal torque forcing the front of the axle back down) and then you have a real issue. The axle could potentially stay "wrapped" and give your U-joints fits.

Unless there's something I'm not seeing, I believe the axle mounts should be either welded or designed differently.

To those who have installed them, what do you think? Or am I missing the part where they affix to a rigid, flat part of the axle?

I don'y know exactly how it works but I did a 25psi 4wd boost launch and a 2wd burnout for about 1/8 mile and they didnt move a bit.

I got a sharpie and marked the axle housing on the front side (underneath the axle bracket) and after the fun I checked it and it's in the same place.

If a guy was worried about it you could lay a bead on it to keep it in place

Hey John your correct if all you had were the traction bars only and no leaf springs(like a 4 link) But since your axle is still planted via the spring perches, leaf springs, and mounts, the ladderbar mount wont rotate around like you said.

If that's true, why install the bars at all?

With the torque our motors can produce, the axle will "wrap" at some point, hence the need for bars.

Since these bars are just clamped to a round part of the axle, there is the possibility that the axle will still wrap, then get stuck. Especially if the U-bolts aren't torqued properly.

True, but you have an auto and don't pull. I'd be curious to see where your Sharpie marks are at the end of a couple of track days.

Hey guys, if and I mean IF we find any slippage in the rear mount we'll simply serrate the mating surface of the rear bracket. As of right now we've seen zero rear mount slippage.

Banshee has a set on his truck but he's in LA for a couple of days. As soon as he get's back we'll see if he can slip the rear mounts with his screaming hard launches.
