Quadzilla adrenaline, Edge J/A, and Smarty Tests
I have spent the past day or so searching through the forums for someone who has taken the time to do an indepth comparison of the Quadzilla Adrenaline with the Edge J/A and the Smarty sr on a 3rd gen 5.9. I understand people have different needs. ( I for example want to haul ***** and not melt stuff).
I know the Adrenaline is fairly new, and I'm very interested in it. I have not yet found a detailed comparison of it. I have 3 friends also looking for programmers right now. I'm sure we would all get Smarty sr's if they had the monitoring, defueling, and cool down features that edge and quad have.
If I win the lottery, I'm going to buy all 3 and make a post on every forum. My last programmer was was an edge comp on a 99 cummins.
I would like to hear from anyone who has experience with at least 2 of these programmers ( emphasis on a Smarty sr comparison to the Adrenaline, from what i've read the adrenaline is superior to the Juice except for bugs.)
Additional questions a lot of people would like to know:
1. Power band (ex. I heard that smarty and quad add more low end than the edge)
Low:
Mid:
Upper:
2. EGT's relative to hp. ( ex. I keep hearing how the edge's run hot)
Smarty
Adrenaline
Edge
3. Problems with the tuners. (ex. most the quad info shows installation problems and what not)
Thanks.

im sure ppl will chime in after this, but in my experience the quad adr is junk, they dont have the programing worked out on it. They claimed i didnt tap the pump right, but its a funny thing that i used the same pump tap for my juice and it worked great. it just surged like hell, jumped up and down etc. When i tryed to update it, their so called update system was a nightmare. If you dont want a smarty then the edge j/a is the way to go.
Ive seen nothing but great things out of the smarty sr. it is the bomb. The superchips flashpaq works really good too, it just doesnt have the uummphh the smarty does

All you need is a TST R49 and SMARTY and supporting mods.... TST will protect you from melting down (Safety Features/Cool Down) and the SMARTY just makes it that much sweeter... Class dismissed... oh wait class!!! Your homework is to find a better more proven stack... "IF YOU CAN".....

1. Power Band: Smarty is very smooth if you adjust your setting appropriatly Low range power is hard hitting throw you back in your seat, or if you prefer it is buttery smooth. Mid range again the same, and it pulls hard all the way through the upper RPM's. Smarty will do what you want it to do.
Edge Juice w/Att. (Level 5) I think that the power on the bottom is flat not much there feels like stock, until you hit 10 to 15 lbs of boost then there is a definate hit, nothing like the Smarty but you know you have added some power. Mid range I would say is average and it is linear in power to the upper RPM's
2. EGT's Smarty SW #5 90 hp setting 1250°F - 1300°F Edge Level 5 100 hp setting 1500°F+ it will defuel at whatever you set it at. Smarty wins this shootout hands down. On a side note I have hit 1500°F on the Smarty but I was on SW#9 WOT to about 115mph.
3. Problems Edge has a great product I have not had any problems with it in the 3 years I have had it, but I did out grow it and went to a Smarty which I don't think I will ever out grow. Again Smarty will do what you want it to do.
Sorry I don't have any info on the Adrenaline, but I hope this helps. If you want my opinion I would just go with the Smarty first (wish I would have) and then you will not have the bug to upgrade to a Smarty in the future. Smarty is an incredible programmer that will SMOKE Edge any day any time I think that the Smarty's 90 hp SW is way more powerful the Edge's 100 hp setting. Just my .02 and again hope this helps.

Thats the exact type of info I have been looking for jm. I would like to see some review info or comparisons on the adrenaline on a 3rd gen ( I'm not sure how relevant 2nd gen adrenaline information is to 3rd CR)
Anyone else. I'm trying to justify the adrenaline, but I wanted to hear from some people. Does the adrenaline fuel as well down low as the smarty?
Thanks

This is pretty much my same experience. It's like deja vu
I do wish there was more info on the Qaud because I'd like to stack it with what I've got when I have the supporting mods. I do have the commander and it's a little spotty on it's readings, so I'm hoping that they get their quality up. I would like someone to chime in who's had the Smarty and Quad because as far as I'm concerned the Edge isn't even worth mentioning. To compare it to the Smarty is like putting a little kid against an adult in a boxing match. It's good for some I guess, but once you've had the Smarty you'd never go back.
I'd even drive/tow with it on #1 and #3 without gauges because it runs cooler than stock (EGT's). The only thing you have to worry about at that point is tearing up your trans.

I have both and while I'm no happyat QUad right now because of his lack of attention on the 03-04 Adrenaline(stackability), I can answer your questions I'm sure. The Adrenaline does fuel hard down low, but not like the smarty. I dont think it's possible to compare low end fueling between a module and a programmer. Egts are managable on both with your foot. I can run either on kill and get very hot very fast, but that can be the case with anything that has the heavy fueling capabilities. The gauges w/ the adrenaline are flat out awesome and nothing compares that I've seen.
I can tell you if Quad and his guys get off their butts and make the Adrenaline stackable, where we can remove timing and duration a little more accurately, raise and lower rail pressure, etc... it will blow the doors off the TST, I'm just not ready to say it's that good yet.

Its a 2006 5.9 48re. I'm looking to get into the game and work my way up to building a tranny. I spent a lot of money learning things on my old 5.9's.
TCR I have read some of your earlier posts about the difficulties with the install.
Anyone else have any Quad info. If not, may be I should just by one and give it a try. ( i wont be stacking for quite awhile so i'm not worried about that issue.)

Bang for your buck, just get the smarty w/ some gauges. The Quad install issues I believe are in the past, but I can assure you, you wont be disappointed w/ the smarty.

Or....be a guinea and get the Quad, then later upgrade to the Smarty and tell us how it stacks! I hate to use you like that, but my money tree never bore fruit, otherwise I would do it myself

id say the quad alone would be awesome if you can ever get a tune that doesnt surge and jump up and down. They fuel hard as hell, i spun my stock turbo with a wg still in place to 30psi with it

I am guessing since you cannot read the OP'a question properly then it explains why you probably did not install your Adrenaline correctly on your 2nd gen truck?

Yes, we had some tuning issues with the 2nd gen trucks but, only on tunes that were twice as radical as anything else on the market. Those seem to have been resolved now, actually many months ago with lots of new tunes that were out.
Not to mention if you want to change the tuning you can with the Pulse. You can change a lot of things.

There is no pump wire on a 3rd gen truck.
I am guessing since you cannot read the OP'a question properly then it explains why you probably did not install your Adrenaline correctly on your 2nd gen truck?
Again, that has NEVER been the issue with the 3rd gen trucks.

who said i had it on my 06, i had it on the 98.5 i sold a couple months ago.
The hardware for the adr is Edit , but the tunes are crap. unless you got it sorted out by now i wouldnt recomend anyone buy this, and naturally your going to say i didnt have it put on right, cause enough ppl here hear how crappy the tunes are, you will be out of a job
