Quad XZT - So easy my wife could do it...

So the Quadzilla XZT box showed up today. Thanks DTR

I was at work, so I told my wife to go ahead and try to install it and just don't start the truck till I got home and checked it out.

Runs good

Definately notice the extra power, though the real test for me will once the trailer is hooked up and we pull it over the hill. If the Commander box doesn't get here before then, I'll be disconnecting it though as I don't want to work it that hard without proper guages.

thats great. im thinking about getting one. i dont know if its worth spending the money for just 65 hp. though or go ahead and get a bigger chip. is it a very noticable difference? I didnt think that you needed gauges. i thought it was just a box that was on all the time, maybe im wrong? thanks for any info......and look in your pm box.

You need at least an egt gauge. I could hit 1350 easily empty on long hard runs with my XZT. I can only hit about 1250 on 100hp with my edge now.

I hit 40 psi of boost and 1250 or so is the highest my EGT's have hit. Its a good box that you dont really have to worry about. 35" 05' PM sent.

Yes it's a noticable difference. I think it's worth it. I considered the 100HP box, but they recommend turning it down to 60HP for towing anyway and I don't see my wife turning up the power to dust off some kid in his Civic. It's her truck everyday, I just drive it once in a while, mostly to pull the 5th wheel. So that's the only power I was worried about. So for us, the XZT seemed like the best choice. If she decides she wants more power later, the XZT comes out in a few minutes and goes on ebay and I'll get another box.

As far as guages.... I'm not too worried about running unloaded. But even stock it has bugged me that I didn't have enough info when pulling over the hills. With the added power, I really want to be able to see what things are doing.

BEWARE TOWING with the XZT, Just returned 2 months ago with 14000lbs of hay from KS. and got to replace the #2 injector 2 weeks ago. (2 week fight with Dodge on the warranty) Makes a great hot rod for a non-towing truck. But if you tow anything, DON'T USE IT!

bro. Just tow with it. Dont worry about getting gauges. I live in south fork, co where we get thousands of people pulling fifth wheels with dually diesels in the summer months. 90% of them are modified without gauges.

Just pull your trailer. Dont keep it pinned but its not going to get too hot if you dont run it too hard.
