wow, lots of good info here. i wonder if the 06's will have higher egt's than the older models for some reason? so if the only difference between the two on the same power level is that the xzt comes on a littler harder down low then the race shouldnt be any worse for egt's, correct? maybee QUAD could chime in and let us know exactly how each unit works. i have heard previously that the xzt is very safe and some guys that have gauges didnt even need them at all. im very reluctant to install an egt probe at this point because around here the dealers are looking for any reason to void warranty. im not even gonna take mine in w/ the afe intake that i plan on installing.
i would like to go w/ the race box if i thought i could get away w/o gauges running it on the lower setting. i use common sense and when towing i dont romp on it. here in MD we dont really have any steep grades around. i guess the worst condition would be the air temps in the summer usually staying around 90 degrees give or take 10 degrees. but like i said im only towing 5k lbs. and im easy on it while towing. but then again i have heard that the newer trucks run hotter. anyone w/ an 06' running the quad products?

i guess it would be a good idea to get rid of it. the muffler is already gone, how much louder will it be w/o the kitty? im asuming there will probably be some drone.

It is going to get loud and it will drown in the cab. I would get a straight through muffler. I have the silverline with a straight throught muffler and it more quiet than the stock muffler is and there is no fins inside to block flow.

When you "service" your exhaust, be sure to thoroughly clean out the catalytic converter and replace it in the exhaust tract - it makes for a pretty good resonator as well!
