Pyro reading??
All right I have had a few post on here and telling people what I have had done and egts have come up and a few people had said my readings are inaccurate so i am trying to figure out if they are or aren't. well I have looked at all the connections on the pyro and everything is good and tight, no loose connections no nothing. Tightened the nut on the manifold untill I could turn no more and still rather low readings with the setup I am running. I will let you guys know if you don't I have a 05 2500 NV5600 3.73 gear quad cab short bed. Exhaust is straight through have a drop in air filter that probably needs replaced BDDL with edge juice. If I turned both chips allt he way up the Bully Dog on 130hp and juice on 100hp the absolute max temp I can see is 1250, this is all pre turbo in the manifold. If I turn both chips completly off I see a max of about 1100 that is both runs WOT untill about 70-75. After reading everybody elses post it doesn't sound right. When I am cruizing down the highway at about 70 I will see between 550-650 temps. What can I look for to find the cause of this problem and solve it, or is there by any chance that my truck just might run cooler than others. Please any advice so I can get to the bottom of this.

bone stock goin up hill I can hit 1200 pre turbo 1300 is easy to hit with my quad box on the 100 hp setting. I think your way low or extremely lucky. Im putting in a new turbo and intercooler to keep my temps down with the box on 100hp and the injectors work (90hp).

MY '02....Completely stock (Except for aftermarket gauges: Isspro), I run around 900 at mild throttle. Will hit 1000+ when I really need (read:want) to hear her bark. I know this doesnt help much, but just gives you an idea of what the stock numbers seem to be. It is possible the probe is bad...? I do not know if you can check it with resistance, but it is probably worth calling the gauge manufacturer and seeing if you can.

UHHM Your box includes a protection program which defuels at a given Egt, or trans slippage. Check your settings on both of those before getting your hopes up.
I see 1500+ for 14.94 @ 91.5 mph with my quad race box on the 140 hp setting. You will too if you over ride the defueling of your box.

just cruising at 70mph and seeing 550-650 is about normal. I dont rarely cruise at 70mph for fuel reasons, but i usually cruise at 65 and I see EGT's about 550-650. When I get on the throttle a good bit i can raise my EGT's to about 900 or so. I only go above 1150 when i go WOT at lvl 4 or 5 with my edge.

ok...first off...your probe is in the manifold...is it adjacent the rear or front cylinders. its important to be towards the last two rearward cylinders being they can run 15-20% hotter under a load (heavy map.)
with my edge all the way up, i run 1250 or so on a hard long pull, with 10K on the back of the truck. with no load, cruising, i run 600+/-
is your exhaust stock?...downpipe stock?
to the guys running 1400+, all i can say is that they must have ats manifolds...because 1400+ sustained will surely melt the stock manifold. ive seen it done numerous times...you get nickel sized holes in the manifold itself.
hope this sheds some light. pm me with any other insight...

Well my probe is mostly in the center but it maybe pointed at tad to the front cyclinders but not by much. as for the the defueling it is set at 1350 and I have never seen that. Ireally don't want to have to re tap the pyro and mount it back farther.

Uh look at my first post. That is what I don't get I am at 550-650 at 70 mph at 30 degrees F. I don't know is it at all possible that my turck just runs cooler or is it to good to be true?? I think we ever I get a chance I am gonna get a different thrmocouple and screw it in.

I'm thinking lucky, here's my reasoning, if your pyro probe was screwed up wouldn't you think it would be so all throughr the temp ranges? I can run 550 too 600 degrees all day and never get over 900 with the quad box set on 60 hp running from 60-75 of course my trucks breathing system is nowhere near stock but it was only about 80-100* higher stock with the gauges. however, the highest temp my egt's have ever been was 1436* for a split instant on one of our 90* days early this winter. I can pinpiont it and have it recorded because of the x-monitor.

With my BDDL on 90hp i can see 1450 Degrees on a long pull WOT at 8500ft above sea level, where the truck will run hotter than sea level. On crazy larry my Pyro goes up as quick as the boost

Well given I have not tempted to download the crazzy larry setting yet for the reasong it will be way to much. But I would think with the bullydog on the extreme setting and juice on 100 hp setting it would run hotter than 1300 degrees. Does anybody else have the stack or combo and can compare egts. Also I did a test I let my truck idle for about 15 mins to see how low the egts would get and the lowest they went where 255 and that is in 20 degree wheather.
