My Blue has a little over 6k on it and it's down to 7psi at idle. I've tried the spring stretch, Moroso spring and even took it off and cleaned the hell out of it....still 7psi. Needless to say, I haven't drove it for a week now for fear of toasting the VP44. I'm washing my hands of this electrical business and placing my order for a certain mechanical pump in the morning.

From what I can gather, Summit has this pump for $320, and the regulator is another $160.

Aeromotive stuff ain't cheap-- that's why it lasts...

Look at Weldon Pumps . Most of their pumps are 100% duty cylce and and have an excellent reputation. I havn't seen one in a diesel application, but for gas Weldon pumps are considered a much more durable pump than Aeromotive and especially Holley. I think it would be worth a call to talk to an application engineer and see if they have a suitable pump

For the record-- the above Aeromotive pump is rated for 2000 hrs continuous use, rated for diesel, and Coast Guard approved for Marine applications.

It will flow 600lb-hr at 45psi!

With the matching regulator (which references boost), I can have an endless supply of fuel adjustable from 3-15psi.

I'm thinking the truck would be happy with a constant 11-12 psi.

You might want to be careful with that thing. There was a guy running it and aparently the regulator quit regulating and applied the full pressure to the fuel filter canister. Needless to say, the cap on that sucker isn't rated for that pressure, and with a loud "kaboom" is blew the cap right off and completely covered everything with fuel. Until then I don't think he had any problems with it though....

I haven't heard of Aeromotive regulators failing that frequently at all-- it's quite rare based on my limited experience.

Nonetheless, you are right. If the regulator gives up, you can count on an expensive mess!
