pulling with upgrades
i'm just looking for some advise on pulling and working with my truck with the power upgrades. i'm like to used my powerpup setting at extream at all times however i'm aware that this isn't good for transmissions or turbos due to exhaust temps. however here's my question....
with an aftermarket torque converter would anyone feel that would take care of the tranny issues? and i have also been thinking of putting on a bigger turbo. will aftermarket turbos handle a little higher temps?
i currently have the bully dog power pup and a bullydog 5" exhaust. any advise? looking to haul approx 12K of enclosed trailer ( which i find harder pulling then the 17K open 5th wheel i used to haul...wind makes a huge difference )

P.S. I am sure there will be no shortage of opinions on which brand Trans upgrade

Larger turbos don't necessarily handle the temps better. But moving more air, they are able to make more power at less RPMs and thus less temperature for the same power output. In other words 1500deg on a different turbo will still burn out the bearings. The difference is that on the stock turbo your temps might be 1300deg fully spooled for 400hp, and on a larger turbo the 400hp number comes at say 75% spool and 1000deg.
That's my understanding anyhow - I am by no means a turbo expert so if I'm wrong then ignore everything I said - but I think I'm right.
Of course, I always think I'm right, just ask my wife.

Don't forget that all things being equal, to a point, a larger single will run hotter. On the highway my EGTS went up over 150 degrees with the new turbo, but boost dropped 7psi at the same speed.

my truck stock sees exhaust temps in the 1250-1300 range and boost pressure as high as 41psi. these seem about right? i don't know anyone one else with a similar truck that has any gauges.
