PSD boosted!!!!

This is performance, but kind of a little story. Was at car wash and a 6.0 PSD CC F250 pulled up revving up... Loud turbo whine!!! He's gotta have a box i said to myself. After he does a quicky wash he whines it up and takes off... When his TS tranny shifted to 2nd gear and his BIG mudders were letting loose. Then they hooked... Truck sounded mean and loud... In 3rd gear the tires also let loose, but not as long...more like a good 2 second chirp.... This truck was quick... very quick!!! DOn't think my HO600 could do this since I'm DRW 6spd QC... Is it true that SD fords are more of a powerhouse compared to the dodge CTD. Man this really spooked me..seeing a full size truck take off like a HOTROD!!! I know CTD are meant for towing, but we all have to admit once in a while we do think we are drag racers and punch it showing off....

Depends on whose Dodge you are talking about?

The strongest modded diesels in light trucks are Cummins.

i dont think his truck will live making any big power for very long. When I had my 7.3 I was going to get a set of hybrid injectors and a fuel system(had about $4500 saved) and my wife thought it would be better to just get a new truck . Now looking back on it I dont think there are to many people with 450+ hp that haven't windowed thier blocks. And the 6.0 will spray coolant out of the head gasket with just a hot chip in it. I havn't seen any fords put out 600+ hp on just plain #2, except the ones runnin a cummins

Drop a good box on yours and you won't be seeing those mudders spin because you will be in front of him...

fact is a 6.0 is only good for about 425 in stock form, and then the tq levels can sometimes not reack the low 700s.my 6.0 was faster out of the hole then my nanny but once she hits drive and the turbo starts huffin its a different story

Dockboy did you have a dyno sheet to verify with or are you just going with your horse power calculater on 1/4 mile times? So I still haven't seen a 7.3 at 600 hp on #2, there may be one out there but I haven't seen it.

The fact is that a 7.3L can make 600. In fact, think a guy named SnoWhite who is a regular on www.thedieselstop.com is over that right now. He claims he is THE fastest FORD out there.

However, the reality is that making big power on the PSD is MUCH more expensive. I've asked this question on FORD boards, and have been told that since the block is a bored out 6.9, that it is thinner and prone to cracking under heavy HP (Dockboy please step in here to correct if wrong). If you've got money and desire, then 600HP is accomplishable in a 7.3L. Because of the cost to get there, is why I don't think you see very many 7.3L in the 600 HP range.

The fastest PSD... hey, I've got a clip of that thing getting smoked by a CTD. lol

BLKHO600, you've got nothing to worry about... yea, he may have you right now, but I gaurantee that if you take the same amount he's put into his and put that into yours... well like said, you wouldn't be able to see what he's doing cause he'd be behind you.

yzfr6,

3 days after those dyno runs I was at the track. On #2 only I was doing consistant 13.6's @ 100 mph.

I since worked on the programming and some other things. When the track closed last year, I was doing consistant 13.1's @ 104-105 mph @ 7900 lbs. on #2 only. You do the math

By the way, I should have you a 600 hp #2 only dyno sheet around the end of April

BigBlueDodge,

Actually the rods or pistons are failing which is causing the holes in the block Not because the block is too thin. Most of those problems have been worked out through some trial and error though and I believe you'll see the motors at 600+ lasting a little longer in the future

Well if you do that would be great for the ford people, but my post was to assure BLKHO600 that his truck has the best motor of the top three brands.
