PS 64 or SPS 64

Just like the title reads. Saw the deals going on this month and am really debating what to get. Truck is 6 speed with a smarty, never tow anything, and all driving is rural roads hardly any stop and go so lag isn't a major concern is why i'm wanting a 64 over a 62. with the phatshaft, the wheel is a 65mm and the super phatshaft its a 71mm correct? i'm gonna be gettin the 14cm exhaust housing to keep things cool. but the price difference is like 400 bucks. is it really worth it to get the super phatshaft over the phatshaft. I mean would gettin the 71 lower my drive pressures that much or is it not gonna be a problem with the 65 wheel? any input would be great.

so really what i'm asking is which one should i get.

ps 64/65/14 or

sps 64/71/14 for 400bucks more.

thanks

No towing and a stick, go with the SPS series. I have a 62 and it provides plenty of air, why the 64?

I want a 64 just because i feel like it would be the best for my driving style. (not bashing 62's or anyone with them at all just my personal perference.) I mean i know a 62 will cool 500hp but thats kinda gettin warm if you ask me. stock i believe its a 59, and i've ridden in my buddies truck with a 66 and only a tst on it and lag was not bad at all. i don't mind a little lag and i feel like a 64 is a really good all around medium turbo and would keep things cooler running the smarty and it gives me some room to grow in the future.

Sounds good to me! I would get the 71 wheel though, it added a TON of top end performance to my set-up. It is like pulling a giant cork out of your tail pipe. I still say there was very little to no loss on the bottom end, just a little slower to spool. Either way it is a huge improvement over stock in overall performance.

I also love the way it sounds at idle and when you downshift slowing down. It sounds like there is a 747 landing in your bed.

alright thanks for the input. so you really believe it its worth the couple extra bucko's to upgrade to the 71 wheel? Just for the top end performance or does having the 71 wheel lower drive pressures? i'm wondering if a 65 wheel would be to high a drive pressures but i can't see how as because the stock turbo is so small and things are fine, and alot of people run the 65 wheels and don't have problems, or is the 65 more for better spool up and bottom end

PS 64 I really liked mine very little lag. I played with the wastgate a little, tweeked it to my driving style. 37s, .373 and a 6 speed it would lag in the big gear if you hit a hill doing like 45mph but once you kinda learn the tricks to it towing and everyday driving isnt a problem

thanks for the replies guys. anyone with a 64 please chime in and give me your opinions. I've researched turbos for over a year now and have read about everything know to man. Lots of info on the 62's. guess i'm kinda the odd ball wanting something in between. I think theres one guy on here that has a 64 and turned off all his electronics to see about better fuel mileage. can't remember the name. but i could of swore he said it wasn't even that bad with no more than stock fueling.

I've got the 64/65/14 and the driveability is great. I'm thinking about upgrading to the 71mm turbine wheel and 13cm2 housing.

I'm just really debating wether or not to get the sps over the ps. cash is kinda tight is why i was leaning towards the ps although i would rather have the sps. i'm just wondering for now if the performance would outweigh the cost.

what are the major befefits of having the 71 wheel over a 65?

I got a PS 64/65/14 and don't have a problem with it even with electronics off. My truck is a 6 speed too so you can control it better than ah auto. Its a little more lag than stock but it actually isn't as bad as everybody said it would be cause everybody was telling me to go with a 62 but i wanted something different. I'd say go with what you want and be done with it cause you'll get something ur not sure about then wont like and wish u would of got what u wanted in the first place. If u want more get up and go then go with a 62.
