Only cold weather areas have the plug installed on the trucks. Mine came with one.

 

I own a beater Camry for the exact reason you mentioned. I live 4 miles from work. The longest route that I could possibly take is 12 miles, which I've done when the beater has needed workin' on.

I absolutely hate driving the truck short distances. It's not good for it and in all reality it'd be best if I could start it up and leave it running until it quit...

Your bearings and motor oil will appreciate you buying the beater!
