Propane or water/methanol

Which has a greater affect on lowering EGTs? What about power increase? I know that propane is supposed to account for some power increase, but what about water/meth on a diesel? I know that water/meth is good for power increase in gas burners.

I saw this the other day in a magazine and it has my interest piqued. I don't see any claims of EGT reduction, and was wondering if anyone else has experience with them.

Most of the people I know of run this system for water/meth and have good results. You can find some good info on their site also.

I'm with GDH11 on this one I would never give up my propane as it does give a 70hp boost and rise of about 2-3 mpg. I use mine for city driving, burns to much on hwy. It,s metered by the amount of turbo boost. Easy to install as well!

Water/meth can give as much power and is safer than propane. EGT decreases on propane only happen at part throttle, when the "advanced timing" effect of the propane offsets the additional fuel. Water/meth lowers EGT at full power/heavy throttle, which is when you need it. Plain ol' windshield washer fluid is worth about 40 HP, 50/50 mix with high quality methanol typically gives around 70 HP.

My thoughts on propane - I think it's a bad idea on a truck with a lot of extra fuel and/or timing. On a stock truck it's safe, and if you can get propane cheap you can save money on fuel. If the MSD kit is programmed right it will make propane a lot safer. Basing the propane supply on RPM as well as boost will keep the propane from cracking pistons or blowing head gaskets when the engine bogs down. The engine can stand a lot of propane at high RPM, but at peak torque the cylinder pressure is higher and the pressure spike from the propane lighting will break stuff, so you can't use as much down low. Hopefully MSD programmed their system with that in mind.
