Propane v/s Methanol

For a TOWING truck strictly stock (right now) which will give the most useful addition to HP and usability

Main objective it to keep EGT's as low as possible but have ample HP and better fuel effiency.

Id go with water meth. I have heard conflicting stories on propane. I have a buddy that has water meth on his d-max, what a difference in egts alone. also the extra power it produces. just my thoughts. Im sure some one running a kit will tell ya.

I've been told several times that propane injection increases EGT temps. Water/meth can decrease EGT temps. If you want it mostly for towing I'd think the water/meth approach would be the best.

Washer fluid(winter mix with Methanol) 1.99 gallon. Works for my buddy just fine. Also, bulk Methanol is only 2.50 a gallon. just some info for ya.

well in canada, we have it at the bulk oil and fuel docks. I think we par 46Cents per liter or so. All you have to do is call around to the bulk stations and ask them if they carry it and if not then who does? Im going with water meth after the turbo gets put in, but thats just what my plans are.Now that i dont use my truck for work i can Bomb the hell out of it.

You can get meth from any crack head on any corner around here...

J/K

But seriously, any place that sells race gas, like the fuel trailer at a drag strip, will usually have a drum of meth that you can buy bulk out of. That is where I buy meth for the kit on my turbo drag car. I can't remember exactly how much it is, but it is a hell of alot cheaper than propane, I do know that.

I'm running propane and it seems to have a neutral effect on my egt's but has a positive effect on my fuel economy with a noticable power increase. Water methanol will give you the cooler egt's you are after with a power increase as well

Just out of curiosity where does the nozzle go before the turbo or after the IC?

Well said, this is pretty much spot on to how my truck responds as well.

Water meth introduces fuel and water where as propane is only a fuel. Both will increase the amount of fuel in the cylinder, just w/m gives you water to cool as well. The transition from water to steam is a heat absorbing process and carries the heat out of the exhaust with it. The only consideration is which mix of w/m, and even if pure methanol has the same BTU's as propane. The one that is higher will give you the better power and mileage.

CrashCade, I notice in your sig that you have run nitrous, propane, and water/meth....Do you ever hit all three of these at the same time and if so how much of each? I have been wondering about this lately and wondering how things would would hold up.
