Programmer/Module Questions

HI All,

I am looking for feedback on a couple of programmers/modules. I have decided to finally pour the coal to the old '06 no that she has 400 hours on her. Keep in mind values are in cdn funds, and i would like too be in the 400-500hp range for now, and ultimatley end up at 550. I have done some browsing and comparing and these are the modules i am looking at:

HOT Juice w/ Attitude (180hp - $6.33/hp)
Pros- Less chance of warranty hassles, i had good luck with my edge products for my '02, attitude does 0-60, 1/4 mile times
Cons - Expensive, Attittude monitor only needed for shift on the fly!!

BD Crazy Larry (170hp - $4.41/hp)
Pros - i hear it is good, seat belt minder delete, fog lights w/ high beams
Cons - dealer traceable

SMARTY (170 hp - $4.70/hp)
Pros - Low end power?? (thinking of power band from 2nd gens)
Cons - REALLY NEW PRODUCT

Quad's Race (140hp - $3.92/hp)
Pros - Best value, customer service
Cons - Insane pressure!!

Any experiances are appreciated!

You'll get mixed opinions...

Some love Edge
Some love Smarty
Some love Bully Dog
Some love Quad

I've only had experience with the Bully Dog and Smarty.

Out of those two on MY truck I would hands down go with the Bully Dog. Maybe I didn't have the "right" program on the Smarty but it didn't perform like the bully dog did.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The main thing is that you get some extra power on that baby!

No kidding!

One thing for sure, you'll have more fun driving your truck with whatever type of programmer/module you get.

Luken....what kind of bottom end did the bully dog produce for ya?? One thing i have noticed with this truck is it lights up at 1900, before that it is kind of a drag....even though i can spool the turbo at 1100, it still dont light untill 1900.

You might look into TsT. They make a box that is hard to out grow. But there is a bunch of us trying I would say most people going for big numbers end up with a TsT.

TST isn't something im interested in, there isnt any low end power, its all high end, And with a top speed of 100 mph in 6th gear @ 3250 rpms, top end isnt something i need, not untill i get my gear splitter built and installed!!

here are the boxes or programmers I have tried
1-dr.perf. stage 1 awesome bottom end but screwed up my truck
2-sp diesel stage 1 nice smooth power but all pressure
3-bullydog power pup works good on tow but my truck falls on it's face in perf. setting
4-diablosport predator just got it but so far seems to make smooth power, but don't feel as strong as I thought it would.
5-quad race box-by far the best of them all good bottom end power through the entire rpm range,I don't see extreme press.with this box it gets up there a little at wot but who drives around at wot, highest I have seen is 25000

Note that I have the Scary Larry from HTS... but the Bully Dog has the most bottom end out of anything I have tried so far...

Tq man off on crazy larry I have my video camera with me. I'll take some video of the speedometer later so you can see how just the bully dog does on my truck.

I've been in a truck with the standard crazy larry and it doesn't have as much get up and go than the scary larry. On his truck the Smarty had more bottom end than the regular crazy larry. On my truck it was a closer comparison but the bd got the edge...

For some reason my truck isn't having timing issues with ONLY the bully dog now I still can't run the stack with the tst since I loaded the Smarty on my truck.

Hey Ramtd02, another thing to keep in mind is that we here up north seem to run a bit differnet than other guys at lower altitudes and warmer climates too. I have tried most of the boxes out there now, except for the smarty and I have found the combination that I have to work awesome for me, I am going to add bigger injectors this winter and I think that will put me up in the 550 - 600 range in hp. Barry at NADP has a couple of smartys, you might want to give him a call and see if he will let you give them a try. (Talk to Craig tell him that Kevin from Grande Prairie sent you, he will help you out)
