In the process of modding the cp3 HELP!
I am currently modding the cp3 on a freinds truck and we are wondering if it is easier to take the whole cp3 off with the bracket, removing the entire cp3 from the bracket, or trying the take off just the back portion of the cp3 for modifications. Anyone that has done this mod, if you can gie us some insight that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

MAN! I just went outside and looked at the CP3... It's going to be a bear to work on... Intake horn is going to have to come off. Any other interesting tips I need to know? How long do you think it will take? I should have all the tools, I have to get some sand paper and screws to put the gear body back together... I'm probably a 5-6 on the shade tree mechanic level, (which probably means a 4-5), should I tackle this alone? I ain't scared...

Madhat, we were able to pull off the necesary bolts and remove the parts for modification from the cp3 in about 2 hours. The next time we do it, Im confident we could do it in less. Additionally we went a bit overboard and had a machinshop do these tasks for us. I just dont like taking a cut-off wheel on a dremel to the internal parts of a cp3...I just feel they could do a nice job on it for a piece of mind.
EDIT: No need to remove in the intake horn. The rear part of the pump you remove is no larger than a deck of cards and it has fins on it. We found maybe moving the breather tube out of the way would help you get to the bolts easier, but we didnt do it.

Madhat, you shouldnt have any trouble with modding your cp3. Its really not that hard. Just take your time and make sure your working in a clean area.
PS make sure you really take your time and clean up the metering valve with some 2000 grit sandpaper, mine sticks a little when cold since I didnt take enough time to make sure it was perfect, and since I didnt use any antiseize i cant get the t25 screws out. If you have any questions, you can pm me. Ive done 5 different trucks so far and all were done in under an hour.

you dont have to remove the intake horn. if you have a glacier 2 micron filter under the horn, just remove the filter.
unplug the connector going to the fca, it is very obvious, you cant miss it.
oldsmokey is right, it takes between 45 to 60 minutes.
